Lovely pub on the outside and has been in the village for 300 years. Only problem is that that the landlord (Tom) wants to turn it into an image of himself; sullen, miserable, quiet and rather boring. Don't go here if you expect a warm welcome or even a pleasant greeting, these things aren't part of the deal. I think his idea is to make customers feel as unwelcome as possible in order to have the place to himself. This could be a great village pub but it's gradually being run down by lack of music, TV, entertainment and ambience. Sparko100 - 21 Jan 2017 07:16 |
Nice traditional English pub with a good selection of real ales, well kept. Food is disappointing, service very slow. Portions are small and a lot of dishes are very obviously pre-cooked and microwaved to order. Burnt tidemark on dish a real giveaway! Food prices are high, especially considering the size of the portions, main dishes are around £14-£16 bracket with bland puds at £5.25. Shame. grumpyoldman - 9 May 2013 11:52 |
fairly average, think it more suited to my son he would like the roughness of the place. gloriab54 - 7 Dec 2011 18:16 |
Pub is pretty good, food good but nothing to go crazy about. There are two main problems.....it's never open firstly!! Many times after a country walk we've tried to go on Sunday/Saturday and it's closes at 3. Really think they're missing a trick. Secondly not the friendliest landlord, was a bit snobby when I enquired about quiz nights (informed me that 75% of everything they do is food related.....not a drinking pub then). Seems a shame for such a large village. eleanorp - 26 Jan 2011 10:55 |
Went here for a Sunday Lunch last year, and had a lovely meal. Beef was lovely and rare. Will be going back next month. Can't say much for the actual "pub" side of things though, as we were just in the restaurant. tfidonnie - 20 Oct 2008 17:17 |
