Country pub on the peninsula of Rutland Water. My visit clearly coincided with a busy spell as there was no space on what is a quite large car park. Luckily I found a space down the road. The Finch's Arms feels more like a hotel/restaurant than a pub. But it does clearly cater for drinkers. I was offered a taster of one of the ales before deciding against choosing it. Ales were St Austell Tribute, Grainstore Rutland Osprey, Castle Rock Harvest Pale & Morland Old Speckled Hen. This is a family friendly pub and although I didn't see it, apparently one of the rooms has views over the Water.

NIce pub on Rutland Water peninsular. Decent quality cask ales, Local IPA and GK Abbot and nice scone, jam & cream.

An odd pub. During the week the garden is empty and the bar has a few old faithfuls at the counter. But despite lack of customers you should expect slow bar service - the regulars seem to get priority treatment with barstaff who feel able to ingnore waiting customers.
On a sunny weekend there is the view from the garden which is outstanding, however you will have to endure very slow food service (45-90 minutes) and bar service that will make you pull your hair out in frustration.

In short if the car park is full seriously consider going somewhere else because the poor service will spoil your day.

Absolutely awful. Staff were rude. Bar staff didn't have a clue - didn't know how to order food, could we order at the bar? Dunno. Is there waiter service outside if we'd just like to order from the bar menu - he just didn't understand the question. And this was the only bar man. Eventually collared a waiter who said someone would take come to take our order. We had to wait half an hour before we could order; one waitress told us she could only take desert orders, then the next explained that she couldn't take our order. Eventually she did.

We ordered from the bar menu, and basically got what we expected, no complaints there. The food from the restaurant menu looked very good - but the organisation of the staff was appauling, service was abysmal (for a pub!) and just to add insult to injury it was clear that the couple who owned the place were sat there in the back garden without any idea as to what was going on around them.

Nice pub, especially in summer with the garden overlooking Rutland Water and Burley House
