The Bulls Head, Chiswick

Went for lunch in The Bulls Head today. Four of us found a table inside (it was pretty quiet) and ordered drinks and lunch. After waiting for what we thought was 45 minutes I went to the bar to find out what had happened to our food. The barman went to the kitchen to find out, came back a couple of minutes later to say that our food would be out in 7 minutes. No attempt was made to apologise about the delay, nor had we been warned about it. After another 10 minutes our food finally arrived, again with no attempt to apologise. Based upon the time on the receipt it subsequently appears that we'd be waiting for an hour and ten minutes!

Gammon, egg and chips awful. The eggs and tomato were burnt, to the extent that you could hold the fried egg in the air horizontally from one end! By this time we had other places to be anyway, so sending it back wasn't going to help :(

A visit a few months back (albeit at the weekend) was very pleasant so I can only hope that after today's absymal lunch that they're able to find some better staff for the positions of cook, barman and waitress. 0/10.

The Finch's Arms, Hambleton

Absolutely awful. Staff were rude. Bar staff didn't have a clue - didn't know how to order food, could we order at the bar? Dunno. Is there waiter service outside if we'd just like to order from the bar menu - he just didn't understand the question. And this was the only bar man. Eventually collared a waiter who said someone would take come to take our order. We had to wait half an hour before we could order; one waitress told us she could only take desert orders, then the next explained that she couldn't take our order. Eventually she did.

We ordered from the bar menu, and basically got what we expected, no complaints there. The food from the restaurant menu looked very good - but the organisation of the staff was appauling, service was abysmal (for a pub!) and just to add insult to injury it was clear that the couple who owned the place were sat there in the back garden without any idea as to what was going on around them.
