Arrived at this place to see a bus load of revellers just departing. Most were in fancy dress. I guess it was probably a stag party. Inside those customers that remained all seemed pretty sizzled, all singing to songs coming on the jukebox. The barmaid completely blanked me. She seemed more interested in partaking in the free snacks on the bar than doing any work. Luckily a guy appeared and took my order. With Young''s London Gold & Special & Courage Directors, I was spoilt for choice! The multi-roomed interior was a bit of a mess, presumably as they had been so busy. But the munching barmaid was clearly in no mood to make it any more respectable. Or maybe it''s always in that state when they open up each day! Handy for the nearby station. But easily the worst pub of the day. blue_scrumpy - 3 Sep 2017 11:06 |
Popped off the train to check this place out, have to say average at best. Poor drinks choice and felt a little rough, won't be coming back. 4/10 montie49 - 22 Feb 2016 11:59 |

It's 2014 and this pub has undergone dramatic change - for the better! The new landlord has made considerable changes through a lot of graft! It is now very much a community/family pub and often packed at weekends and busy in the week. The pub has been cleaned, decorated inside and out and offers a range of themed days and evenings. I noticed that they have open mike nights and bbq/family events on Sundays, often with live music. There is food available, Sunday dinner and other meals in the week. There is a resident skittles and pool team which is bringing in the punters. The atmosphere is good, safe, relaxed and nothing like it was a few years ago when it had another owner and a very bad rep. If you haven't ben back since those dark times give it a try! The staff are friendly and helpful, the regular customers have always chatted in a friendly way. A really lovely family pub - but don't worry!! It isn't over run with kids, that is generally on a sunny Sunday when the bouncy castle is out! You can certainly see that the new landlord has put in time, care and a lot of hard work in order to turn this very comfortable and attractive pub around! Well worth a visit is you are getting a train - 2 mins walk away, or fancy a wind down when arriving on a train! trinsk - 8 Oct 2014 11:56 |
Visited here recently, found four ales in excellent condition, and the staff or licenees were friendly. The pub was nowhere near as busy as it used to be for a Thursday evening but then, what pub is these days since the introduction of the government and CAMRA supported smoking ban. pivovar - 20 Apr 2010 22:01 |
