My favourite pub of a holiday to Norfolk in January 2020... stayed in Sheringham, but had a great day out in Happisburgh (watch the pronunciation - I was picked up on this by Norfolk folk). Walk along the beach to the cart gap and Sea Palling beyond.. lovely walking. The pub immediately feels good. Old, homely, nooks and crannies everywhere. Lots of locals. Apparently Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle stayed here. They also brew there own beer at the Dancing Men brewery behind. I had dancing men After the storm, but there was also Lacons St.Nick, Woodfords Tinsel toes, Green King IPA and more. Visit now, before coastal erosion denies you the privilege! Read some really positive reviews about this place and was looking forward to frequenting this place every evening during my recent holiday in Happisburgh. However, after my first visit, I didn't feel comfortable going back. The locals were rowdy and one particular bloke liked making me feel awkward about asking him to move each time I needed to get to the bar. If I hadn't been with my wife I would have invited him outside after his third attempt to threaten me. The pint I had was ok though.... lovethypub - 4 Jul 2012 11:40 |
Close to the church and not far from the famous lighthouse the Hill House is a fine village local serving very good home cooked food (proper stuff) and good beer. The WHerry I tried was excellent, nice outside areas for sunshine sipping, try it sooner rather than later, with the way the coastal erosion is going around this area it will soon be on the beach! Stayed in Happisburgh last week and visited here twice, once just for drinks, once for food. Both were excellent. Top marks to the very welcoming landlord and family / staff. Topical - 30 Mar 2011 20:30 |
