user reviews of the Carpenters Tavern, Dundry

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

lovely traditional pub at the top of Dundry.
Very reasonable prices and always a good selection of specials chalked up on the board.
Spotlessly clean for such an old building.
Large garden and play area for the children.
One of my local favourites.

A prominent pub located right at the top of Dundry Hill. Quite a traditional pub interior with whitewashed stone walls and a L-shaped bar. Landlady was very friendly, as were the locals and there was even a basket full of eggs for sale on the bar which makes you feel as though youre in a genuine country pub.

Theres a good sized beer garden out the back with some distant views towards the Mendips, a couple of kids play things and a small patio area. Decent selection of pub grub food at reasonable prices, all chalked up on a board next to the bar.

Beers on offer were Butcombe, Bass and Courage Best while the ciders were Blackthorn and Addlestones. Im not sure why this has scored less than the Dundry Inn around the corner, I certainly prefer this one out of the two.

WELL NOW.
I FIRST KNEW OF THE CARPS WHEN I WAS ASKED TO PERFORM THERE .
TO MY SUPRISE THE PUB WAS FRIENDLY AND A GOOD ATMOSTPHERE. THE LOCALS ARE NICE PEOPLE AND THEPLACE ALSO HOUSES A LARGE RESTURANT. TO MY SUPRISELADY TOUCHED MY SHOULDER AND AS I TURNED AROUND IT WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE WHOM I HAD NOT SEEN FOR YEARS . THEN I TWIGGED WHY THE PUB WAS RUN LIKE IT IS . TRACY .
I TOOK MT FAMILY UP THERE FOR SUNDAY LUNCH , WHICH WAS CHEEP AND GOOD VALUE . AND I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW NOTHING BUT EMPTY PLATES. THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF .
SO FOR A NICE DRINK IN THE COUNTRYSIDE WITH NO TROUBLE [OR TROUBLEMAKERS.SHE WONT ALLOW THEM IN ]
AND A FRIENDLY FACE THEN YES THE CARPENTERS TAVERN IS A GREAT PLACE TO STOP OF AFTER A DAY OUT .
