Prominently located in Bitterne shopping centre. A traditional pub that serves the older locals very well. Sign outcome says children not welcome, but on asking we were allowed in the back dining room. Typical pub/cafe food - quite edible, but don't expect posh grub. Service was a little frosty at start, but quickly warmed up. Ales are Courage Best and Directors. Nice looking sheltered beer garden at the rear. This is a busy and well run pub, though does lack a bit of character. I'm happy to come here again, though it's not a place to detour to. SilkTork - 1 Jan 2015 14:56 |
My pint of Courage Best at midday was just fine, and 2.80 - a fair price. stevehar - 15 Mar 2011 23:09 |

Beer was OKish although probably a little past the sell by date. Landlord seems to want to do well but has to cater to the local clientele. Having watched the locals inside and outside the pub I can see where my taxes go. A throughly depressing boozer. danbert - 10 Apr 2008 20:41 |
I visited this pub whilst having my car repaired in a garage on the industrial estate opposite. Pint OK, felt a bit pecko, so i ordered some 'cheesie chips', they were truly disgusting, tasted like they'd been deep fried in old engine oil. eddy_blip - 24 Aug 2006 22:50 |
