Have to say to the last reviewer, your remarks don't surprise me as the ale supped there back in Easter was the foulest I have had in a long time. Not a place you would want to linger, I left the remaining half pint on the bar...it probably got served back up again just as you described! robinbrum - 23 May 2013 13:13 |
I was in this pub on saturday Lunchtime. I man behind the bar quite openly picked up a drip tray and poured the contents into a glass and ttried to sell it to a customer. When the customer objected he was barred. It is not a establishment I will ever enter again and would ask other like minded people to do the same robertc - 21 Apr 2013 06:56 |
The "Lottle Grosvenor" is still my first Port O Call and well worth it for the Draught Bass. (and, of course, Clivey Hall controlling the activities!) TalbotHill - 19 Jan 2011 15:31 |
A basic, no frills boozer located just opposite Asda. Presumably the landlord is a bit of an Elvis fan, as there is whats described as an Elvis Corner at the front of the pub, although in reality this seems to have taken over half the establishment. The walls and even the ceiling are plastered with pictures of the king. Theres a decent looking bar snack menu chalked up on the board consisting of wraps, baguettes and the like and they also do a roast on Sundays. There were a few flyers advertising upcoming bands and even an Ann Summers party. There were several Hells Angels types at one table, but they were perfectly well behaved. Beers on this occasion were Courage Best and Doom Bar. Ciders were Blackthorn and a rather warm Thatchers Gold. Blackthorn - 11 Jun 2010 10:01 |
Most interesting thing about this pub is that it is used as a recurrent setting in Robert Lewis' novel The Last Llanelli Train. A great book detailing the alcoholic adventures of a private eye in our fair city. Probably one of the best ever reads dedicated to a boozehound. (Although his next novel, Swansea Terminal, is bleaker & further down the darkened track.) I doubt many people who visit would recognise its footnote contribution to excellent contemporary literature but there you go. The pub itself is middle ground Bemmy fare. Prefcaced a few Easyjet city trips in here with a swift one prior to the Flyer coach. MillerX - 22 Aug 2009 20:05 |
