"very strong links to the nearby Naval air station" Well one of 'em has disappeared. There was a photograph of a restored aircraft, which belonged to me, and was on loan to the pub, which disappeared with the previous licensee. (Thieving git!) New people seem fine. I shall call again. The_Final_Arbiter - 18 May 2009 13:58 |
Been in the Podymore quite alot now that it is under new management. Eaten various times, lunch, evening meals and Sunday dinners - all exceptional food, real English grub!!! Staff are friendly and polite, pub is always clean, very cheerful and warming place to be!!! 100 times better run now that Fee, Bill and Justin are running it. karenandwills - 8 Apr 2009 10:58 |
Looking for a place to meet and have Sunday lunch I popped in to this pub Saturday afternoon with some trepidation having read the earlier postings. It was clear however that it was under new management (of only 2 weeks). Made to feel welcome & valued, lunch booking taken efficiently. Came back Sunday & had excellent lunch with plenty of good quality veg. Butcombe & Pedigree on handpump & both in fine condition. Atmosphere welcoming , dcor good, loos clean. Well worth a call in. "Very strong links to the nearby Naval air station" is pretentious-speak for "often frequented by pissed Naval ratings looking for a fight". BobOs - 14 Oct 2008 13:44 |
I called in there a few days ago. Not busy (but then, it never was) and the landlord has it on the market (which is probably just as well, as he's on Bacardi an coke at lunchtime!)Lovely sandwich though, and very good value. Beer in fine fettle too. The_Final_Arbiter - 28 Jun 2008 16:14 |
