AS A FINAL FAREWELL TO A POTENTIALLY GREAT VENUE please read on:- If u missed it first time round (...back in March 2006)! here it is again...!! One of the best 'ratings' posted on this marvelous Bite site. I only wish "anon" had declared who they are, so that they could take all the praise....here it is:- This is a proper pub as it's nice and smokey. Not keen on the food but then I do prefer food with a bit of class. My husband said the burgers were a bit dry and his sausage was a bit on the short side. My melons were jucy though. I would say that it is a bit pricy for what you get though. Report this for removal anonymous - 21 Mar 2006 13:38 TeeJay - 17 Feb 2010 18:18 |

So disappointed. Have been to this place plenty of times and it just seems to get worse... they need Gordon Ramsey - at present they are neither a bar nor a restaurant. Too much floor space given over to serving food but no customers. We ate after the distastrous refurb and I have to say I laughed my arse off at the earlier positive review of the fishcake. Mine was like an enormous potato football (topped with an uncooked egg). The cocktails are good and the guy behind the bar is friendly and polite. I want it to be better than this, it has the potential but every management decision seems to take it further down the wrong road. I want to be able to avoid the chavs (sorting room/william webb ellis/whatever), poseurs (bear), fighters (george) and emo-rock kids (filthys - thank god that moved down the road!), so smo's should be my place....come on, sort it out. frenchmartini - 26 Jan 2007 16:53 |
Was too expensive and always empty so they did a "refit" which seemed to involve moving the bar. Now it is empty and too expensive - Why bother? This road is a bit of a restaurant graveyard and this place is going to be signing in soon.. TheGP - 23 Dec 2006 11:27 |
