The Railway is situated (unsurprisingly) right next to the level crossing and railway station in Billingshurst. It has a nice cosy bar area at the front and a quieter dining area to the rear where one solitary person was enjoying Sunday lunch. Locals congregate around the bar itself making it difficult to get served. Beyond that is a small garden and car park. Ales were Harveys Sussex Best Bitter, Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Sharps Doom Bar, Fullers London Pride & Firebird Paleface American Pale Ale. There was a cask at the end of the bar. But I couldn't tell if it contained anything different. The nearby Billingshurst Carnival was fairly enjoyable. That had a beer tent. But real ale drinkers were nipping into the Railway for their refreshment. blue_scrumpy - 27 Jun 2016 19:45 |
Ah the dear old Railway....atmosphere hasn't changed since I first started popping in after youth club - 40 years ago! Recommend the bar billiards and the Stella Artois on draught. tommo5 - 23 Jul 2011 23:52 |
Easily the best pub in Billingshurst. No, really. It's the only one you'll get a decent pint in, at any rate. Widgeridoo - 3 Oct 2010 11:48 |
Nice relaxed atmosphere and a few ales on tap in this pub which is, yes, right by the railway station at Billingshurst. Better than the vast majority of 'station' pubs though. rainlight - 26 Jun 2010 22:13 |
Great atmosphere, very friendly, the BEST Sunday lunch for miles around! Great Ale, Plenty of Oddballs. anonymous - 4 Jul 2007 17:33 |
