At 8.30pm on a Saturday night this Marstons pub was noisy and crowded. Only two ales, Hobgoblin and Banks’ Bitter, and I’ve had a better kept pint of the latter for less money elsewhere. Very handy for the station but nothing else to recommend it. duchyjim - 16 Feb 2018 21:04 |
Rough and ready sort of place, though the Banks' bitter (2.20 per pint, is unwaveringly good). The Friday night disco is a bit overpowering (for my taste), so it's one pint and over the road. tel - 7 Dec 2011 17:40 |
This pub has improved a bit since I last visited (can't remember when that was). There was a mix of young and older customers in when I dropped by earlier today, and the older clientele didn't seem to mind the hip-hop and dance remixes that was on the jukebox. Had 2 pints of Banks's which were good but not special. An average pub overall, but I'm afriad the Bull's Head doesn't make my list of `Favourite Shrewsbury Pubs'. Refurbished Marstons pub close to the station. Looks reasonable enough, inside and out, but annoyingly was being used as a children's playground with no attempt by parents or staff to keep the youngsters under control. Decent pint of Pump & Circumstance though, but quickly moved on to catch my train. rpadam - 6 Oct 2009 00:35 |
moclips2002 must be psychic or visited this place in the future!! After the refurbishment there are now 4 handpumps on the bar directly facing you as you walk in. Bankss Original and bitter plus Wychwood Wizards Staff and Marstons Lord Taverners Ale. I had a pint of the Wychwood it was OK but could have been better. The pub is much nicer inside than it was previously. The room to the right now has dining tables and chairs so they maybe planning to do food soon. The small back room has a pool table, large screen TV and a quiz machine. The small area to the left has a couple of settles and tables. Its a pleasant enough pub now, money well spent would be my opinion. ROBCamra - 2 Jul 2009 15:29 |
