| I agree with the previous comments but it appears that this pub has recently changed hands. I confess to being a rare visitor as I don't live in the area. Having walked 2 miles with our dog we tried to open the gate to the beer garden but it was locked.We asked if we could bring our dog a few feet through the bar to get to the garden. We were refused, being told that for "insurance purposes" dogs were not allowed in the garden !! but we could sit out at the front of the pub in the car park on tarmac next to a busy road. The owner did however bring our dog a bowl of water. Needless to say, at 2pm on a warm sunny September day the pub and garden were deserted except for two staff and one man at the bar. We had intended stopping for a few drinks and food but left after one grudging drink. Could this attitude be why so many pubs are closing ? | pub looks run down and tired. The potentially lovely garden is in need of some TLC and the furniture is knackered .I agree with other reviewers, the food is a bit pretentious. The beer is OK, and the little room at the front is great for small parties. anonymous - 30 Apr 2007 18:18 |
