Average pub surroundings, but Very expensive food and beer. Both were OK, but not much value in evidence. biggles221 - 16 Mar 2012 08:36 |
We were warned away from this pub during our recent holiday, but I have to say our experience of it was absolutely superb. Went for a lovely pint of Wherry one evening and returned for a delicious breakfast of the highest quality. The staff were attentive and helpful and even let us charge our camera battery up inside the pub. Really good menu. Recommended. BarnabyMoo - 9 Oct 2011 16:34 |
I am told that the food at this pub is usually quite good, but it certainly was not when I visited. I must be fair and say the staff were friendly, the beer was very well kept and the ambience was good, but the food was rubbish! Starters were all about 7+ and I expected something special, but they were only just OK. But the main course was totally tasteless - I could have closed my eyes and imagined I was eating anything I chose. Now, I subsequently learned the landlord/chef was away on holiday, so I emailed him and told of my experience - good points as well. But he did not reply. And two locals told me he would not because he probably will not accept anything there is less than perfect. So, thanks but no thanks - my advice is to go to the Rising Sun just 100 yards away! mrcanary - 27 May 2010 15:35 |
I Really liked this pub. Thought the beer was excellent served by freindly staff. I would definately recommend this pub for food also but would imagine it would be a nightmare at the height of the boating season so if you're looking to eat here in that time - book ahead. bluemoonmatt - 7 May 2007 17:36 |
