The Rising Sun, Coltishall

Not the best pub in the world, but is certainly unpretentious compared with the Kings Head nearby. You get what you pay for and the pub claims nothing else. Good honest food and well-kept beer for reasonable prices.
Streets ahead of its neighbour!

The Kings Head, Coltishall

I am told that the food at this pub is usually quite good, but it certainly was not when I visited.
I must be fair and say the staff were friendly, the beer was very well kept and the ambience was good, but the food was rubbish!
Starters were all about �7+ and I expected something special, but they were only just OK.
But the main course was totally tasteless - I could have closed my eyes and imagined I was eating anything I chose. Now, I subsequently learned the landlord/chef was away on holiday, so I emailed him and told of my experience - good points as well. But he did not reply. And two locals told me he would not because he probably will not accept anything there is less than perfect. So, thanks but no thanks - my advice is to go to the Rising Sun just 100 yards away!
