Traditional pub with decent real ales. Spot the old Ansells sign painted on the roof, and the Ansells squirrel in the glass in the right-hand room. Garden with play area,

I was in the area yesterday, so called in at "The Dog". A change of land lady since my last visit.

Was made very welcome. Some work been done inside and out.

If I lived local, this would be a regular stop for me.

The beer well kept. The regulars state that the food is of a good standard at a fair price.

This pub is well worth a visit.

I have very fond memories of this pub. Back in 1974 Wilf Jeffreies with Margaret ran the pub, I asked Wilf for a job one night and worked for them for years he sacked me many times I was back behind the bar the next shift. We were friends for years.

Then it was a locals pub that was before the M6 & M42 I think the last bus from Birmingham was 23.00hrs.

The pub was in the winter always had an open fire in both rooms. We often had a bonfire on what was the old bowling green.

I find it impossable to pass, I drink in the bar and I still feel the welcome in the place and I would recommend that you visit. The village got some good walks still.

The pub and village have a lot of history around. Come out of the pub cross the road go up the hill ( the old off license was there) turn right at the top you will find a almost lost road.
