My friend asked to leave for simply wearing a Yes badge. This is known to be a secterian pub which is outrageous in this day and age. Do not go near it folks. doricduncan - 20 Jul 2014 16:36 |
a serious sectarian bar. Landlord is an avid Rangers fan. Don't use unless you are of his team. You will be refused service chiefknut - 19 Jul 2014 17:58 |
First chance back here in years and it was so disappointing. Very drab, poor bar service, dodgy looking characters everywhere and a drunken guy by the name of Pape or Pope going on about when he knocked out Kefferty, whoever he is. You go in for a quiet pint and end up with a blow by blow account of Kefferty's injuries. What's that all about. This guy kept repeating himself and I don't know why he wasn't removed by bar person. maybe he had beat her up as well. Won't be back due to this atmosphere. Well placed TV screens though. General Comments: Clean. Smoke free. Good range of spirits, beer, wine. Bar Length / Access: Good. Two mirror image rooms opposite each other. Unfortunately, one needs to go out into the entryway to get between them. Exterior: Older grey sandstone building. Well maintained. Traditional lacquer paint sign. Black on deep red - attractive. Could have done with some hanging flowerpots or similar fixtures to brighten it up a bit. Dcor: Generic 20 century English pub. Recently renovated. Coherent, minimalist, and tasteful. Patrons: Full age range. Lively but well behaved. A couple of spills on the new carpet while I was there. Favourite adjective in conversation: F***ing. Recreation / Diversions: None evident apart from beverage alcohol. WhoDoMan - 27 Apr 2008 08:04 |
