Oh my God the public bar seriously scary what horrendously ugly customers couldn't tell the women from the men and seriously smelly saw one old haggard witch with a warlord lookioh - 4 Jun 2014 14:11 |
Visited this pub a few months ago for lunch but left early when the bar staff had a screaming match in front of the customers over boyfriends and who should be doing what in the restaurant. Decided to return there this week as is within walking distance of my parents place. Yep lets just say home cooked food dosn't necessarily mean good. There is plenty of food, the prices are average for a pub but there are just as good or even better deals from other pubs nearby. I opted for boozy fish and chips. Chips great but batter was soggy on the fish so didn't eat it and the steak pie was overcooked with burnt pastry and overcooked veg. Nice staff, no arguments this time but think there are some other pubs nearby also worth trying (tudor close and seaview at east preston). louiselav - 4 Aug 2011 14:02 |
Have you ever found somewhere that makes you feel so good you want to live there? Well, I know this might sound ridiculous but the Henty makes me want to live in Ferring because it sums up the village and the people for me - really friendly and warm. The landlord is a gent and always give you a really warm welcome. I must say though the star of the show for us is Julie, the lovely lady who works behind the bar. We go to Ferring every year on holiday and amazingly she remembers us every time and what we drink even though it's been 12 months since she last saw us!! You won't get that in Wetherspoons or Yates!! I always think that a test of a real pub is how it stands within the community and every time we've been in there you see the same friendly local faces - if they like it enough to be regulars it's good enough for me. There's a quiz night every week, the food is lovely with a great specials board and they also have a beer festival every year. I can't believe the comment I saw about it looking rough and the person concerned insisting they will never visit again - your loss mate, what an idiot!! Who is this person - one of the Royal family - it's a normal local community pub? How can you possibly judge a pub that is shut anyway? Please ignore their comments and visit this great little pub and see for yourself. IWANTTOLIVEINFERRING - 15 Jan 2011 20:43 |
Excellent pub, great beer and extremely friendly. Really good food, especially the pasties. Beer Festival is amazing. bennibenj - 7 Apr 2010 15:34 |
One of the best pubs in the area. Good choice of real ales and very good value home-cooked food. 15 minutes walk from Goring By Sea station, alternatively bus 700 Brighton - Portsmouth passes close by. 79Thatcherite - 18 Feb 2010 01:03 |
