| A very deceptive looking pub from the outside as it appears to be long and thin but there's a large dining room at the rear that was very busy even though it was only just gone 1pm on the Sunday I visited. 8 ales on the pumps with the majority being Scottish, I had the house brew from Belhaven along with a summer ale from Caledonian, the house brew being particuly good. Interesting interior with a lot of exposed stone walls and a mix of carpets and wooden floors. A full range of GBG's sit on a shelf between the bar and restaurant. I decided to eat here so I plumped for the beef and Ale pie with mash and veg. Good value at just under £9.00, decent size meal though the mash was bit lumpy. | Good selection of beer including the finest offerings from Belhaven (It is a Belhaven Pub, afterall). Food and Bar intergration wasn't brilliant after waiting about 20 minutes for a table, the barman then told us our table was ready, unfortunately the restaurant staff didn't "have you booked, sorry - no chance of food tonight", thankfully for us starving chaps the bar chap sorted a table out for us. 10 OUT OF 10 for the beer though. goodhead - 25 Aug 2011 23:57 |
