First visit today. Had a family lunch - service with a smile - food good. Could do with some new tables and chairs though. HERITAGEPLUS - 30 Dec 2010 23:19 |
We have been regular users of the Magic Midget for some while and have eaten there regularly - until now! We have had one or two 'bad' meals but last Sunday was absolutely the worst. My 'black & blue' burger was almost all black with only the faintest hint of blue. Hubbies steak was clearly cut from the cheapest carpet and was completely inedible. On complaining we were met with the highest degree of disinterest we have ever met even though the part chewed bits of 'meat!' that went back should have spoken for themselves - and probably could have!! No apology and no offer of recompense was forthcoming so we certainly won't eat there again and would not recommend it to our worst enemies. Oh and by the way whoever mentioned the druggies was absolutely correct. thegibbons - 31 Jul 2009 13:52 |
Sorry mate, still full of drug dealers. Went in there a few weeks ago and recognised at least 2 people that deal in Abingdon!! winstone - 23 Jul 2009 12:31 |
I think the midget is a brilliant pub and I'm not a local either. As for being full of drug dealers, I've never been approached in my life! Its true there is a community spirit in the pub, but it is far from unwelcoming, and there are a variety of events in the evenings, and everybody is included. I don't generally leave notes on forums, but felt compelled to, as from my experience, the previous wall posts are far from the truth, even verging on slanderous! Every time I have visited the midget I have had a great time, staff are very friendly, good menu, great outdoor seating/heating. Generally a well designed lay out, great place to watch the football. In essence a young vibrant pub, with a good atmosphere, which I feel the new bars that are sprouting up everywhere are missing. sdfsdf - 17 Oct 2008 14:32 |
Wasn't this called the Magic Midget (after the MG car, made just down the road). I recall it being modern, and nothing special, but OK. My other local at the time was the Saxton Arms, rough old place, but a proper locals pub (fine, providing you did not stare at anyone). Is that still there? baggydave - 9 Feb 2008 18:40 |
