Stunning pub! It was gtreat to si by the river in the summer & now with the winter weather here already it is lovely & cosy to sit inside by the open fires. We didn't eat this time, but definately wish we had. Definately going back soon for dinner with friends & cocktails afterwards! Sarah7K - 3 Nov 2010 18:57 |
I agree totally with the last two reviewers, this is a restaurant with a bar. It is part of the Mitchells and Butlers Group. The Adnams was OK, but not exceptional. The same applies for the food, it could have been warmer, but it was reasonably priced. For the amount of waiting staff around, the service was surprisingly slow, but to be fair, we were a reasonably large party. (16) Big question: Would we go back? Quite possibly, but only as a party of four - maximum. Phantom_Pigeon - 14 Sep 2009 10:34 |
Not a pub in any way - as seems to be almost entirely given over to restaurant dining. Contemporary interior, with old features - mill race - retained and incorporated. Food average to better than OK. Extensive - but seemingly - bought-in menu. Pricing not too shocking. TT Landlord was not in great order; but drinkable. Table service - albeit occasionally a bit absent - quite prompt and amenable. grovetown - 17 May 2009 17:10 |
Not a "pub" in the true sense of the word, more a restaurant and bar. Visited on a Friday night, not too crowded, on our visit staff were courteous and very efficient. Since it has more of a bar atmosphere, not surprising to find the only ale was Adnams bitter, temperature about right (usually too cold in these sort of places) and a good well kept drinkable ale to have with a meal. Food was excellent if a little expensive. Perhaps there's been a change of management since the previous reviews? Harefield2003 - 7 Mar 2009 12:30 |
