The pub has just reopened after a major invesment in a gastropub style. They have spent lots of money and it is very female friendly, to the point that it will put guys off. The lighting is way too bright, the furniture is not particaularly comfortable, some of the decor is tacky and it just doesn't "feel" like a pub in the way it used to. I would probably go back to see what the food is like but for a drink with the guys I will be sticking to proper pubs. davadog - 12 Nov 2011 17:04 |
After a longer than planned country walk we were really looking forward to having a pint and had got this one out of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. 1. The beer *was* good... from the Potton brewery. 2. The landlady was friendly. 3. But the place is a dump. The walls need something hung on them, there are lots of plain tables with leatherette chairs like a 1970's working mens club. This place could be really good, but just needs a sympathetic touch. joegrundy - 30 Mar 2008 20:04 |
The place has just been taken over by the same people who run the Five Bells In Cople. If they do the same thing with the menu here as they have at the Five Bells then the locals of Potton are in for a real treat. Apparently the menu will be available next week so best get your table booked !! anonymous - 20 May 2007 17:35 |
Really pleasant small hotel with good but not pretentious interior. Local Potton beer very good, and staff friendly. Well worth a visit and Potton is a nice place to walk round (head for the TV aerial). mtaylor40 - 10 Sep 2006 20:17 |
