Perched high up in an unusual position in the town near the church. Inside is spacious and quite a cosy place with many nooks and crannies. However our visit was a poor one. Very expensive drinks (owned by St. Austell) and just not our kind of people really. 4/10 montie49 - 16 Aug 2018 17:43 |
Good. Plenty of live bands, good pool table, good beer garden, couple of quiet corners if you want to take it easy. Nice landlord too. Best pub in town, to my mind funfhorn - 6 Jun 2013 19:48 |
Plus points are a fine selection on the digital jukebox, and the occasional bit of live music that comes through there. The place always seems to be full, but that can also be a negative, as the dark (read: badly lit) interior often means there isn't anywhere to sit and enjoy the bog standard selection of beverages. codebreaker - 3 Mar 2008 21:25 |
Ye gads talk about a necessary evil. Laughable selection of drinks, and even the snacks sail close to the 'Best Before' wind. Cramped to the gills with unkempt JSA-hoggers, and a fire with all the roaring capabilities of the mouse that didn't. Good jukebox though. getsit - 2 Feb 2008 17:32 |
The Barley Sheaf is one of Liskeard's better pubs, but that should not be taken as high praise. The place is often heaving at weekends, although it's hard to see why, given that the beer is distinctly pricey. There is little atmosphere to speak of, the toilets are in a poor state of repair and food is limited to the usual crisps. The clientele seems to consist principally of pretentious students (i.e. the sort who attend media studies courses at institutions like Winchester). kid_b - 24 Sep 2006 18:50 |
