A nice Everards pub that whilst may come under a Desford postcode is actually quite isolated on the A47 between Leicester and Hinckley… What one might call a 'roadhouse'… Nothing to dislike really; Lovely staff, nice décor, great garden, the food looked good (didnt actually eat there) and the beer was good! Normal Everards fayre of Old Original, Tiger, Beacon & Sunchaser with a Christmas special called 'Sleighbell'. Very busy when we visisted, and I'm sure this gets a lot of passing trade for a quick 'pint after work'... Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 25 Jan 2018 16:10 |
This pub is only 2 min from the place where I work, at Xmas we had a dinner time drink and bar snack that was it was very good, So on Saturday the 5th June 2010. I took my wife for a meal in the evening. However I wish I hadn't!!!! The on arrival I opened a tab at the bar and went and sat in the garden, I then ordered a meal for my wife and I (mixed grill & fish, chips & peas.) The meal took well over 45 min to arrive and when it did it was over cooked (we did not complain we were just glad to have the food they offered) . We had our 18month old son with us at the time and the wait was all to much for him, I spent the last 15min of our wait walking up and down outside the back of the pub so not to disturb any other dinners. It started to rain so we moved inside and at the bar stood three filthy workman that had just finish their days work, they stood there using bad language such a the C**T word and other profanities. Then to top it all when I had settled my bill with a nice lady working behind the bar and left tip that was not deserved on my table, as we made our way through to the front door of the pub, which was now filling of people waiting to be seated for a meal. the tall blonde male bartender in his late thirties shouted at me across the crowded bar ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR YOUR MEAL THEN!!! very aggressively. To which I replied as not to make a scene yes I have paid my bill at the bar Now feeling tremendously embarrassed and humiliated my wife and I left. I will do my very best to spread the word at my place of work that his pub should be avoided and my story is provoking lots of strong reactions with my staff (1800 people) with everyone I tell also stating that they will never go there again.
