Tried it for a drink - it had been a regular place when we lived in Redditch many moons ago. Then it was a rabbitt warren of rooms, much head ducking to get through the doors etc.
Altogether a very special place - and one of the first to serve real ales that I came across.
Now?
It has been GUTTED and has lost all its charm.
CRIMINAL.

I have to agree that the service in here is very slow. I sometimes come here in my lunch break and i've only made the mistake of ordering food once as I had to leave before my food arrived - and i'd only ordered a sandwich. The service is just so incredibly slow, it's a common sight of a lunchtime to see three or four people behind the bar milling around and only one guy actual doing any serving, with a mass of people waiting to be served. the beer is fine and the food appears to be alright by the looks of things, but don't go if you have any kind of time constraint.
Saying that though The Boot in Studley makes this place look like a fast food restaurant.

my family 6 adults and 3 children went the the Old Washford Mill, Redditch for a family birthday meal. We arrived at 12.50 and were shown to our table. another party of 4 adults and one child were shown to their table near to us 10 mins after us. there orders were taken before ours we had to ask someone to come and take our order. we later had to catch a member of staff to take our sweet order and at 2.55 two hours after we arrived we were still waiting. We had had enough, they were short staffed and the waitress was doing the bar, taking orders, waitressing and doing the bills. It was crazy. We decided we had been there long enough and asked for our bill and told them to cancel the puddings, which disappointed the children. we loved the food but were very disappointed with the service and the fact that we were doing the organising eg. asking for service all the time. we were told sorry when we asked for the bill but at no point were we offered any compensation by way of a discount or free drink and feel that if they want people to frequent the premises a lot of organisation needs to be addressed at this establisment. we only had the carvery, which was very nice but cannot obviously comment on the main meal service.

i've only been a couple of times of a lunchtime but it seems nice enough. The ale seems well kept, if not a particually intresting selection. They have a peacock and a cat, which is a nice addition. I don't know, it seems nice enough but nothing special, i feel like there's something missing which could turn it from a nice pub to a great pub, nothing you can put your finger on though sadly.

this pub used to be a grat place to take kids in summer, but since refurbishment no kids facilities at all, very disappointed and won't be doing back this summer.
|
This pub is currently closed for refurbishment. It really needs it so hopefully they will buck up their ideas when they are back in business.A Harvester pub has recently opened up nearby (previously The Dog at Mappleborough Green)assume that's why they've decided on the Refurb.

Yawnsville, Arizona. A good pub layout and garden but dead. Needs some life as it has potential.

Its a great pub. Ok some times the food aint great but we all have bad days. The staff work hard and always with a smile. In the summer the Garden is perfect loads of sun and chilled beers. The only thing could be better is if the toilets where not so far away from the bar and the beer was free.

Visited this pub Sat 21 Oct 06. Booked table and when arrived no table allocated. Rushed to the nearest one.Waited well over 1 hour when told food would be 30 minutes. When food arrived was dried up and had been under the heat lamp. Complained to management with no apology. Demanded our money back.Very badly run pub with too few staff.

This place definetly goes from one extreme to the other in terms of its food and service. It went through a brilliant phase whilst they were doing BOGOF on all main meals all day every day. Then it changed to a 'selected meals 2 for 10' whereby the staff became rude and unhelpful presumbably because their tips would have taken a nose dive cause they also changed it to 'order at the bar' instead of waitress service. During this phase I think the chef wasn't happy cause food wasn't very good. Stopped going for a while and then when we ventured back it was still the same 2 for 10 offers and order at the bar but the food and service wasn't as bad. Admittedly I still haven't been back for past 12 months.
