| Tried it for a drink - it had been a regular place when we lived in Redditch many moons ago. Then it was a rabbitt warren of rooms, much head ducking to get through the doors etc. Altogether a very special place - and one of the first to serve real ales that I came across. Now? | I have to agree that the service in here is very slow. I sometimes come here in my lunch break and i've only made the mistake of ordering food once as I had to leave before my food arrived - and i'd only ordered a sandwich. The service is just so incredibly slow, it's a common sight of a lunchtime to see three or four people behind the bar milling around and only one guy actual doing any serving, with a mass of people waiting to be served. the beer is fine and the food appears to be alright by the looks of things, but don't go if you have any kind of time constraint. | my family 6 adults and 3 children went the the Old Washford Mill, Redditch for a family birthday meal. We arrived at 12.50 and were shown to our table. another party of 4 adults and one child were shown to their table near to us 10 mins after us. there orders were taken before ours we had to ask someone to come and take our order. we later had to catch a member of staff to take our sweet order and at 2.55 two hours after we arrived we were still waiting. We had had enough, they were short staffed and the waitress was doing the bar, taking orders, waitressing and doing the bills. It was crazy. We decided we had been there long enough and asked for our bill and told them to cancel the puddings, which disappointed the children. we loved the food but were very disappointed with the service and the fact that we were doing the organising eg. asking for service all the time. we were told sorry when we asked for the bill but at no point were we offered any compensation by way of a discount or free drink and feel that if they want people to frequent the premises a lot of organisation needs to be addressed at this establisment. we only had the carvery, which was very nice but cannot obviously comment on the main meal service. patriciapursey - 1 Apr 2009 18:26 |
| i've only been a couple of times of a lunchtime but it seems nice enough. The ale seems well kept, if not a particually intresting selection. They have a peacock and a cat, which is a nice addition. I don't know, it seems nice enough but nothing special, i feel like there's something missing which could turn it from a nice pub to a great pub, nothing you can put your finger on though sadly. mattyboy - 19 Sep 2008 15:38 |
