Working our way into the City along the back streets and we stumbled on this inviting inn, prompting a chance to get out the rain.
Very smart exterior and interior. Mainly setup for dining but with some seats around the bar and in the front windows. A battle to get through the bar hounds, who were friendly enough.
Three or four real ales on but I was surprised to see TT Ram Tam - very rare to see a mild anyway, but a TT one outside of Yorkshire.
It was decent enough.

popped in yesterday early eve and was very busy surprising for a tues after bank hols, nice pint of elsie mo was told that generally busy days & early eves with local businesses and teachers and local residents have to say nice buzz with wide range of people. Apart from few bits of chipped paint place is still immaculate. looks like pub has turned a corner will be back next time in canters

Wandered into this pub by accident, as it's not in the main part of the city, and it was very pleasant. Had a couple of Harveys, which was in good form, although the barmaid seemed a bit of a novice at pulling beer through a handpump.. Seems that it's only been open for 3 weeks, under new ownership, and it was very clean and bright. Had a meal in there, which was very good. Certainly worth a visit.

Wow, this is a hidden gem. Stumbled upon this pub over the weekend. Ben the new landlord has spent a fortune on the refurb and it certainly shows. The decor is stylish and very comfortable, plus with an outside courtyard it was a real sun trap over the weekend. We tried their speciality burgers and were very impressed plus they had a great range of beers and a good wine list, prices seemed very reasonable. Just wish this was closer to our home but next time we are in Canterbury we will certainly visit! Lovely and highly recommended!!

Wow or what ! This has been refurbed i cant believe it, 3 ales on just had black sheep was great. Really smart pub in such short space of time, contemporary yet traditional.. food looked good too. New owners to boot.

pub is open and trading JUST very limited on everthing and very tired, souless joint needs lots of money spending on it, has banner advertising it to let still years ago was a good PROPER pub .. shame

Sadly the pub has gone down hill in the last 18 months. The food offering which used to be great really went off the number. A sense of decline seemed to sweep over the place, it was always incredibly dark with noisy piped music, the good ale choice although unchanging was let down by poor cellar keeping. The pub says it's closed for important decorating work but I'm not sure this is re-opening any time soon. It's a shame, if it was brightened up and given more comfortable seating it could work.

A very very good pub two minutes from city centre down the beautiful Ivy Lane. The interior is rustic and traditional. Seating could be a tad more comfortable. Three real ales including Adnams Broadside, GK IPA and Doombar. Selection of standard largers but some bottled beers including Leffe and Crabbies. Nice sunny courtyard garden. The food at this pub is its biggest selling point it really is amongst the best traditional pub food you can get. Its high quality and locally sourced. All cooked on site and looks the part; cooked to order including the veg served on hot plates. Just had Roast Belly of Pork which was a snatch at 8.00. This really is the pub to eat in if your in Canterbury. Friendly barstaff, no fuss just good service. Thoroughly recommended!

I only used this pub for the first time last year. A place tucked away a little off the beaten track. It was busy with a cross section, agewise, of drinkers. I didn't eat but those who were appeared to be enjoying themselves. The pub had a very pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. Greene King and Doombar were on. I didn't have the GK. The DB was fine.

Love it. If I can get a table, I could stay here all night.

Visited the pub last week and a good quality pint of Guinness. A really cosy pleasant place to have a beer and read the newspaper. Young lady behind the bar was very efficient and kept the bar area very clean, which is a rareity these days.

It's a genius little pub, properly cosy, just a nice quiet place.

A delightful pub situated on the outskirts of the City Wall. A large selection of real ales and a team of very sexy bar staff !
