Live music on both Friday nights & Sunday afternoons are the best time to visit this pub. Other than tat, a good layout or a quiet pint at other times, beer not too bad
Enjoyable few pint in here yesterday.Beer was up to standard.Good garden space. All what a pub should be.
I agree with davejb, have drunk in here for a while now, this is by far the best pub in Sutton and have also never had a bad pint. Have had some cracking weekends in this great little boozer! Keep up the good work!
have drunk in here for a few years and can honestly say have never had a bad pint, quite the opposite. the cask marque certificates are well deserved.
Sort your ales out.
visited here on Friday night to meet some friends and see a band. Nice friendly pub, but the real ale was awful. had to try all 3 of them. Timothy Taylor landlord was the best but still not good. Youngs Bitter was truly awful and Fullers London pride was equally as bad. Why does this pub have Cask Marque accreditation? has to be marked low due to the awful real ale.

Goodnite in here last night music very good,
Live band & packed. TT's Landlord was spot on. HIghly recommended for fun on a Friday night
Still my favourite pub and the one I'm seen most often at. Crammed into this small, intimate and friendly atmosphere is a stage where most Friday nights and Sunday afternoons they have fantastic bands playing a wide range of music. A pub full of genuine music fans enjoying great live music, close up and in yer face. Occasionally they hold a jam session which is a massively over subscribed but not to be missed event. Pride and Timothy Taylor Landlord are ever present. Must confess to being a lager man here. Ales are lush but with my digestive system chaos ensues following (rare but much appreciated) sessions on the real stuff.

I DIDNT UNDERSTAND WRITING IN CAPITALS = SHOUTING UNTIL I JUST RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM MANDRAKE I AM SO SORRY KEVMAC. MY KEYBOARD CAPS LOCK IS JAMMED AND CAN ONLY COMMENT IN CAPITALS BEFORE IT USED TO WRITE IN MIXED CASE VERY SORRY AGAIN.
Cockney Paul, why are you shouting?

HAD A VERY ENJOYABLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON YESTERDAY. LIVE MUSIC AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE AND I TOLD SEVERAL PEOPLE TO JOIN THIS SITE AND COMPLIMENT THIS PUB.
Popped in on sunday evening. Band was playing and the place was full. Didn't stay long but it seemed a nice friendly pub. Good M/F mix and everybody was having a good time. Will definitely go back.
A great little pub, immaculately furnished. Very quiet though, just ourselves, a couple of regulars and a very nice looking and chatty barmaid. Beer prices were very reasonable. Yes it had a b -b table, albeit a Supreme. Reasonably well looked after and set up to be quite straight, although I suspect it has an MDF base rather than a slate - which sometimes caused the ball to do funny things. Only stayed for the one game, but altogether a pleasurable experience.
Wow' Sunday afternoon full of nice crumpet, good music, what more can you want
Another friendly local with a warm welcome. A decent pint of pride and well away from the lunacy that seems to go on in the High Street these days. I had my first (legal) pint at the 'Jenny' over 20 years ago. Happy days
Probably the nicest pub in Sutton, very friendly and a decent atmosphere. Locals are firendly and the beer tastes as it should. Live music in the garden in summer.
i did laugh at popalug too cold to sit in the garden it was december !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

been in there quite a few times absolutley lovely just one blonde barmaid thats sits on her mobile phone day and night. rest of the staff really friendly.

Absolutely dead on a Saturday afternoon. The barmaid/landlady was ok when I took my pint back as the glass stank of sick. Probably a one off. Was too cold to sit in the garden but it did look nice.
JUST TO EXSPENSIVE DONT KNOW WHY???????????????

nice garden area but its like all the pubs in sutton to bloody exspensive
Went for the first time to the Nightingale and saw live music all Sunday afternoon - just brilliant. Great atmosphere, nice friendly people and the drinks are cheap too.
A great place for a drink on Sunday afternoon. Friendly landlady and nice roast dinner at a reasonable price. Well kept range of ales. They had a great live band on (Inside Edge). The place was packed and everyone was having a good time - a very pleasant change from the usual dull pub atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Ha Ha, I assume drevil has not been in the pub when the bands are on then as every time I go on there, especially now on a Sunday with the live music, you sometimes can't move for people enjoying the music. Now either all those people also have bad taste in music or you are just a disgruntled customer?
This pub just seems to get better, am loving the Sunday afternoon bands, what a great idea!
This is a nice place to have a drink until the music comes on. I don't know where they get their live bands from, but they often sound worse than the karaoke evenings. They have the music so loud that you cannot even escape it in the beer garden. This is a shame as the beer garden is lovely. Be warned as soon as you hear music turn away, there are plenty of other nice pubs in the area.
I cannot agree more with sdj. This is definitely the best pub in Sutton. It's nice to drink in a local pub where somebody runs it that actually cares for a change. It is a friendly pub, all different people from all walks of life can go in this pub and feel at ease. The lady that runs it clearly has everything under control, this is a trouble free pub and she knows what she is doing - mind you, would you want to get on her wrong side :-) !!!
The chilli night is a brilliant idea and I have seen it packed in there, along with the karaoke nights which again are really busy, a good laugh with a great atmosphere.
The garden is the best in Sutton and clearly well looked after as is the whole pub.
You cannot go wrong having a pint in this pub, great beer, friendly punters, friendly landlady and friendly staff - what more can you ask for! Keep up the good work!
PUB IS OK BUT THERE A GUY IN THERE WHOS GOT SO MUCH MOUTH,HE IS A FULHAM SUPPORTER AND IF HE ISNT TOLD TO PIPE DOWN,CUSTOMERE WILL LEAVE THE PUB,HE TALKS CONSTANT CRAP AND IS RUINING A NICE PLACE
I think this is a great pub - it is now run by a lady and they have some really good evenings in there. I have been going there for a good number of years and it is definitely not run by locals anymore and has a really great atmosphere - they appear to have worked hard on the garden area which has to be one of the nicest in Sutton and if you fancy watching a band, joining a race night, quizzes or Kareoke this is the pub for you. Also great food again now at lunchtimes (still not a menu in the evenings) and also Sunday lunches and regular BBQ's are back. Also worth a visit on a Monday on the way home from work as they do the best chilli in town which is served in a bowl for free with your first pint!!!!! Can't be bad.
Ah what can I say! Used to be a nice pub but it's gone right down hill coz the new fella seems to be letting the locals run it! If your not one of the muppets then your not welcome!
Nice little boozer , but knock the Thai food on the head and free up some more tables.
my name is paul james m8 and didnt mean 2 offend u in any way,im only stating my views.
nice clean pub,but lacks something.staff r ok ,had a roast there last sunday, didnt think much of it and the lager tasted a bit dodgy
your right pj thats wat its here 4,everyones opinion.im not over keen on Nightingale, but the landlord is great i think
Yep Parkhillian sums it up well, you cant sell a Sutton pub better than saying "It feels like it isn't in Sutton."
Whilst they're all puking and kicking lumps outa each other on the high street you could be mulling over the merits of Hare coursing over a game of pool.
Not bad this. A touch on the small side this gives a bustling yet unthreatening atmosphere that is sadly lacking in most of Sutton's other offerings.
Conveniently far enough away from the town centre to be off the radar of the scum that patrol the High Street establishments.
You could do a lot worse than this if you find yourself in the area.
Very good. Professionally run pub, spotless.
Brillian Pub, lovely atmosphere and great food! Lovely staff. Praise for the member of staff who shaved her head for charity GOOD ON YA GIRL. Land lord is very nice too
I use this at lunchtime - good beer, excellent Thai food nd great staff. Recommended.
The service is excellent, the food is very good and to top it all the prices are right! worth a visit!
Thank you

Winner of Sutton's Best Pub 2003, this is a more traditional pub, not one of your chains or themed pubs. It's located just outside Sutton town centre, only a couple of minutes walk from the central pubs and clubs. The pub has a great garden to sit out in in nice weather and runs a barbecue every sunday afternoon during the summer. There's an excellent Thai menu available Monday to Saturday all year 'round. If you fancy a game of something, there's a giant jenga and a bar billiards table available. The pub also organises the occasional fancy dress disco, party nights, live acts and charity events throughout the year. It's a great pub with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which is why I've become a bit of a regular there.
