if you are going to amsterdam then its very very simple. just get off damrak, and dam square.
its a bit like going to london and only eating drinking and shopping in leicester square, when soho is so close.
if you only go a street or two off damrak/square you'll find a ton of special places.
sod the europub, and find somewhere good.

I can understand the comments below, suggesting that this place has great atmosphere, however, it was quiet when I visited and disapointing. Staff behind bar attempted to be cheery, but came of as a touch forced, and beer certainly over priced, compared to other bars / cafes in Amsterdam centre. Also the beer selection is unimpressive. Try this place if you are looking for Brits and brit beers, but not if you are after a taste of Dutch culture

It can be pricey, but when I went in on Saturday a bunch of Irish girls on a triple hen night made for great entertainment, & well worth it.

Nice modern pub right on the edge of Dam Square itself. Draft Bavaria is lovely and service is quick and pleasant. Comfortable seating, music in the background and TV screens make it a decent venue for a good few drinks. Only problem is that it's a bit on the pricey side.

Best pub in Amsterdam by far, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Completley fell in love with a girl who works there.

loved this pub, went and sat on the tables outside and watched the world go buy at 1 in the morning.
