Bright and clean. Reasonable number of staff, which can't be said of many Wetherspoon establishments. Very popular when I visited on a Saturday. Pretty standard selection of ale. I had Hobgoblin Gold which was fine. The only downside was a few loud, drunken locals.

Bright, clean, beer was okay but the choice a bit limited for a JDW. Surprisingly full for early on Sunday lunchtime, mostly with people drinking coffee/eating breakfasts - not my idea of what a pub's for, but if it keeps them open then we have to put up with it.

The usual really, nicer from the outside, beers all very good.

A place to go if you are young and wanting to get 'smashed' I belive the term would be. You can get food here but on looks alone I wouldn't eat here... staff were lacking and so it took a while for me to get a very suspect pint of Ale!!!! I only drank half and made my way to somewhere with less drunkun teenagers and more ale that you could consume without a real worry...

Having just come back from Ross on Wye, I must admit the Mail Rooms wasn't that bad. Only real problem was the staff took ages to clear tables from all the food they sell. Ales good, only had one suspect pint in the 3 weeks I was there. Service reasonable not much waiting time.

The Ales are good but the ambience is non existent. Ok if you want to drink cheap and get shedded

Walk in mid evening on a Friday needing food. Place stank of it. The decor not much better being a barn with dark blue painted walls.
A Spoon to avoid - Why did 'an ecunemical matter' return later?

Ok. Here goes.
2 blokes walk in here at 10.30am wide open for drink and order 2 pts of Rhymney Export(YUM!) Served up 90% full and cloudy. Aha-the barrel has gone, that's why they're like mud. Barwoman insists they're ok and its a new barrel. Barman(manager type maybe?) is consulted-yeah the barrel is gone. Fair enough.

2 pts of Festival Gold(?) are ordered as replacement-guess what? 90% full again and totally opaque! Round 2 ding ding. This time the barrels not gone, just maybe someone has played football with it!! Bloke is consulted again-and JOHN SMITHS Smooth is offered as a replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAARGH!!!

Finally 2 pts of Harvestoun Bitter'n'Twisted are had,1 though with a few little bits of yeast swirling round. Consumed rather than round 3 though, and the 2 more had after were better. The worst thing was that the opaque Festival Gold(?) was not taken off sale and indeed still on and cloudy at 6pm on the a later visit the same day.

Hmm. For the record the pub was ok,clean and tidy and healthily busy, but as per spoons tradition appeared not to have enough staff.

The 10 handpulls were 2 Pedigrees,1 each of GK IPA,Abbot,Bitter'n'twisted,Rhymney(Off),Festival Gold(?)(not fit for sale),something by Springhead(turned around),something by Burton Bridge(turned around) and a blank.

Needs a visit from Mulletman before I'd be back for ale at least.

As with all wetherspoons I find the place souless. Not a place to relax. Ceiling so high the place echos.

I love this Weatherspoons in Ross...very different from other Weatherspoons establishments, and always good ales with realistic prices.

Chakotay- Agreed, once we pointed this out to staff, they did ask them to sit elsewhere. However, previous to this, staff had cleared their area at least twice and ignored the fact that they were smoking. Whether they felt intimidated by the smokers I don't know.

Does have two non-smoking areas - though after 6 pm the 'children's' area becomes a smoking, child free zone. Some people do indeed smoke in the areas designated as non-smoking and staff WILL stop them if they see them doing so or are asked by customers.

One of the better Wetherspoons. Claims to have two no smoking areas, but on several visits with my family, this has been ignored without any interference from staff. Although beer range and quality left something to be desired initially, this has improved of late. The only real complaint I have is that, whther winter or summer, the air conditioning is on full, so in the winter its f***ing freezing.
