The Mail Rooms, Ross-on-Wye

A place to go if you are young and wanting to get 'smashed' I belive the term would be. You can get food here but on looks alone I wouldn't eat here... staff were lacking and so it took a while for me to get a very suspect pint of Ale!!!! I only drank half and made my way to somewhere with less drunkun teenagers and more ale that you could consume without a real worry...

Riverside Bar and Bistro, Ross-on-Wye

What a waste of a good pub. I did go here the once and didn't hang around and have been back in order to ensure that it wasn't just a bad day but my goodness... you don't know if the pub is open or not for starters.... then when you get in there you leave asking yourself why you ever went in. Saw more people there the last time I went in than ever before but won't be going back there.

The Hope and Anchor, Ross-on-Wye

The reviews on here don't do this pub justice... as someone who enjoys a good pub I rate this pub very highly and not as a local who don't like the new owner etc...
I have been going here on a regular basis over the past 10 or so years so I know that its changed hands and with any pub some people either accept that or they don't.
As for the pub itself, which is what I review its a great pub. There could be a few bits done on the decor to improve it but that's not an issue to me really. The ale is great, the guest ales especially. The location is a winner on a dry or hot day. The food, contrary to other reviews is superb... I eat here on every occassion and have something different every time. The new pizzas are great and cheap and the baguetts are good too but you can't be a proper pub dish of sausage, mash and peas... all home made. In fact all food is homemade as I did have a very long chat with the chef about this once.
The staff are always helpful and alway smiling... even when the sun is shining and there is an hour wait for the food....
