This is a great 'football' pub in a very up market village. The ale is fantastic and service is good. Worth a visit!!
|
sank a few in here when visiting family- decent size proper village boozer. chilled in the large beer garden which was lovely.....no complaints about beer although we did endure a couple of minging glasses during the sesh. landlord likes a bit of banter- which is what its all about, love the small footy memorabilia room to the side- good effort!! apparently the adjoining indian restaurant is rather good too! happily revisit when in the area!

went in today only 2 real ales ruddles and sptifire wont be going in any time soon !

Great, great pub

Went in here for a pint or two recently during the week. I must admit it's changed a lot since my last visit. The atmosphere is much much nicer, beer is still as good as it ever was, and quick friendly service with a smile too. My only minus point is that it feels so much like a town centre sports bar, rather than a village pub. The TV is permanently switched on Sky (thankfully with no sound) its more Rhu Bar than Plough, if you know what I mean. With that said, I'll be coming here again, as I like it better than those other two pubs. Nearly forgot the fact that the back bar has been converted into a proper Indian Resaurant. I won't tell you how good it is, 'cos I don't want it to be packed when I next drop in.

Took the infamous Hook Eagles there last year on a cold grey May evening. Excellent reception from the locals who seemd to enjoy the entertainment. Landlord very generous with the beer which was well kept. Hope we can return again

Great pub with lovely bar staff, always looking to please and very witty. Would like to see another 1 or 2 guest ales as beer is good but would like a little more choice particularly of local beers. Food is good with huge portions and a nice restaurant area although a little quiet, top service as well. Coffee not great though! We go there probably once or twice a month, and always pleased with the service and condition of the beer. Not yet explored every area of the pub, it seems massive.

What a mixed bag of reviews, although most of them are, fittingly, very positive. I am a regular customer at this fine establishment and although hardly 'local', am prepared to travel out of my way to sample the pot-pourri of delights which is the excellent cask asles (as noted elsewhere, all lovingly nurtured by landlord Lee, doppelganger for that bald bloke off 'The Shield', but don't let that put you off - he's a pussy), fine environment (now refurbished to reflect the pubs staunchly no-smoking credentials), lively staff who simply can't do enough for you and of course, award winning food (well, a mate of mine said that his Sunday roast was the best he'd ever had. So kind of an award). Lee's lovely wife Mandy has been in the trade for many years and it shows - despite being a Northerner, she's friendly, efficient and simply know how to run both a pub and a husband simultaneously and is sometimes nice to we customers. Yes, there are TVs but if you don't want to watch them, seek solace in another of the Bramley Inn's many cosy bars, or step out into the carefully manicured gardens (staff are often seen to be tending to the herbaceous borders with a variety of power tools) - plently of room for children or general romping. I'm sorry that one poster felt uncomfortable with 'locals ogling the women' - having frequented the pub for a year, I have to confess it's never happened to me, although I keep hoping. In summary then, a jewel of a pub, growing in popularity as the secret that is the Bramley Inn spreads across the nation. I hope to see you there - mine's a pint of mild.

Nice to see a true pub, a real hub of the community, plenty to cater for all tastes including a magnificent garden, which overlooks the village cricket square. nice ales too
|
Good friendly pub which has had a chequered past. Now caters for many tastes. Good choice of guest ales and food menu looks reasonable although I have not tried this yet.
|
I went into the Bramley Inn one night last week, the first time I'd set foot in the place since the day it closed as the Six Bells (whenever that was, seems like 20 odd years ago now). Frankly it was like going for a drink in a Little Chef. More people eating than drinking, and most of those that were drinking seemed to be dedicated 'soft' drink connoiseurs. Additionally many people seemed more interested in the superfluous television than anything else, further enhancing the impression that I was not in a pub at all. Rather than downing copious amounts of beer and whisky as I had intended, I quickly downed one pint and a chaser, then left. On the plus side, yes the bar staff were friendly and the single pint I had was good and obviously well kept.

sorry forgot, they are going to show the ashes this winter so If like me you haven't got Sky you can watch it in your local pub
|
This pub thanks to the present owners is like a breath of fresh air, and it is starting to buzz again for the 1st time in years. Sunday lunch is the best I've ever had and the ales are kept by a proper keeper of the ale.
this is the one of the original, pubs brought back to life and for once it is not by a chain
thank you

What can one say about the Bramley Inn? For so long an ugly and unloved pub unsure of itself and its purpose - much like some of the clientelle on earlier visits - and now a vibrant venue with excellent ales, chirpy staff and a well considered and well prepared menu.
Do not be afraid of the landlord. Although at first glance you may wonder if they are casting for a sequel to the Football Factory he is eager to please and a splendid host, quite likely to do a little jig when he sneaks a bit of ska on the jukebox. All in all a teddy bear.
If I had a family I would certainly take them to the Bramley Inn. Until that day arrives I am content to travel out of my way to go there for ales, good company and to unwind.
They also have a dart board and miniature goals in the urinals if that's your kind of thing.

Went in to watch the england game at the weekend Last 16 match after hearing good family pub too watch games and had a ball with my daughter who was playing on the supervised bouncy castle while we watched the game on an exterior TV, had a nice BBq to boot
|
Re-visited for the England Vs Uruguay match...I found the staff on excellent form, quick and curteous. The landlord & landlady beaming from ear to ear obviously enjoying themselves. Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly, I can well recommened this pub to all wanting to enjoy a big event. No its not a tiny "ye olde" country pub but its obvious that the locals that use it enjoy it for what it is, a well run business. PS: I am not local, I ignored 7 local pubs to come out to Bramley for the football.

great ales I found on board today courage best, Timothy taylors and champion ale(Burtons) will be in the next hampshire ale guide. Pete Stevens CAMRA(hants)

This pub is a breath of fresh air pub has been totally renovated in the last 18 months with great gardens front, middle and rear. a no smoking policy at the bar to boot.(High tar smoke event). I feel some posters are from nearby struggling pubs!!!!! Some posters below cannot be local as the pub is busier now than it ever has been with great beer and food to boot. I for one am proud to put my name alongside this pub. I would challenge anyone to find better food and drink in a independant pub anywhere

excellant pubwith a nice interior and excellant garden highly recommended
|
Went there for Sunday Lunch. The food was very good and reasonable prices. The service was excellent and staff very polite and helpful. However, furnishings are shabby and the whole place smells of smoke. Not suitable for disabled as steps to front door. You can go in via the back door without steps. No disabled WCs.
|
A difficult pub to rate, as the manager & staff seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcome, but the other customers, as the previous reviewer noted, put you right off. The bitter is always good though and there's a non-smoking room - which is nearly always empty - in which to escape from the rest of the punters, who seem to be engaged in some kind of High-Tar Smoke-Aid event.

Did not like this pub at all. It doesnt look like a country pub, full of larger louts. The kind that sit at the bar all day oogeling at women and young ladies. Not at all family friendly, the bar staff tend to side with the larger louts
Bramley needs another village pub. Not a lot of the village people use this pub prefering to saty at home or go else where.
Sorry have nothing nice to say about this pub.

Very friendly pub with regular changing guest ales. Great place to relax and chill out.
|
Suprising pub, strange shape & alcoves abound. V.friendly staff, beer even ordered from and delivered to garden garden for you!!! Great if a dog owner due to proximity or large "closed" field.
|
I thought this was going to be unpleasant due to the close proximity of the station but I was very surprised.
