This pub exhibits all the unwholesome qualities that would invariably drive me away from pubs: quality ales on display but out of stock, sweaty, overcrowded, a segment of the clientelle that could do with a soap and sponge etc. Yet, perversely I love The Griffin and I always go back for more. Partly I suppose because the jukebox is one of the best of any pub in London and when you've had a few two many chances are they have the song you want to hear at that moment in an evironment of bohemian decay that matches your own.

The Bramley Inn, Bramley
What can one say about the Bramley Inn? For so long an ugly and unloved pub unsure of itself and its purpose - much like some of the clientelle on earlier visits - and now a vibrant venue with excellent ales, chirpy staff and a well considered and well prepared menu.
Do not be afraid of the landlord. Although at first glance you may wonder if they are casting for a sequel to the Football Factory he is eager to please and a splendid host, quite likely to do a little jig when he sneaks a bit of ska on the jukebox. All in all a teddy bear.
If I had a family I would certainly take them to the Bramley Inn. Until that day arrives I am content to travel out of my way to go there for ales, good company and to unwind.
They also have a dart board and miniature goals in the urinals if that's your kind of thing.
