The Bramley Inn, Bramley
What a mixed bag of reviews, although most of them are, fittingly, very positive. I am a regular customer at this fine establishment and although hardly 'local', am prepared to travel out of my way to sample the pot-pourri of delights which is the excellent cask asles (as noted elsewhere, all lovingly nurtured by landlord Lee, doppelganger for that bald bloke off 'The Shield', but don't let that put you off - he's a pussy), fine environment (now refurbished to reflect the pubs staunchly no-smoking credentials), lively staff who simply can't do enough for you and of course, award winning food (well, a mate of mine said that his Sunday roast was the best he'd ever had. So kind of an award). Lee's lovely wife Mandy has been in the trade for many years and it shows - despite being a Northerner, she's friendly, efficient and simply know how to run both a pub and a husband simultaneously and is sometimes nice to we customers.
Yes, there are TVs but if you don't want to watch them, seek solace in another of the Bramley Inn's many cosy bars, or step out into the carefully manicured gardens (staff are often seen to be tending to the herbaceous borders with a variety of power tools) - plently of room for children or general romping.
I'm sorry that one poster felt uncomfortable with 'locals ogling the women' - having frequented the pub for a year, I have to confess it's never happened to me, although I keep hoping.
In summary then, a jewel of a pub, growing in popularity as the secret that is the Bramley Inn spreads across the nation. I hope to see you there - mine's a pint of mild.
