Youngs pub with only Ordinary, Special and Proper Job available. Food seen but not tried. In a boring location on a main street.

I live just around the corner from the Brewers Inn, and feel compelled to add some of my own comments, following a string of very disappointing experiences. New management took over a few months ago, and I have to say they have made things worse if anything. The quality of the food has gone downhill but the prices have gone up, and they don't offer any lunchtime specials anymore - in fact there are no specials on offer ever. The last time I went there were more staff than customers, yet despite this it took them ages to get the food out (they served staff before us - yes, exactly) and they couldn't even get that right. Despite smiling and being really friendly about trying to get the issues resolved the staff were unfriendly and suggested we 'complain to the manager', which we duly did. She promised a reply yet over a month later I am still waiting. Based on several visits I have found the food overpriced, the staff not particularly friendly, and the attitude of the management slightly arrogant - I am just guessing but perhaps they make so much money from wedding functions from Wandsworth Town Hall they don't see the need to treat their regulars very well. There is no atmosphere either. Go elsewhere would be my recommendation - it's a real, real shame as the pub has SO much potential, but they need to buck their ideas up, offer a few lunchtime specials and hire some lively and friendly staff.

Called in here on a Tuesday lunchtime and found quite a busy establishment with a good selection of Youngs beers on. The staff were welcoming and pleasant.

Situated in Wandsworth, a short walk away from the site of the old Ram Brewery, this smartened-up Youngs Pub caught my attention straight away because it was so clean - I mean spotless, like I was afraid to put my pint down on the bar top just in case it left a ring.
Youngs Ordinary & Special were on draught alongside Tribute with more of the Youngs range in bottles behind the bar. Special was in good nick and at 3.15 about average given the area. Moving through the bar area you end up in the lounge, which with its abundance of leather armchairs and Chesterfields is quite opulent; Its like drinking in a National Trust property. There is also a dining area and judging by the menu this is the sort of place that takes the food very seriously. The piped r&b music seemd a little superfluous but I don't want to mark it down for that. I liked this place quite a lot and would definitely return.

Had a meal at this pub (not really a pub anymore) and must just say that the meal was great value for money. Well above the average pub meal you would expect. Although it wasn't very busy the service was the best I've had for a long time. Pint of Youngs went down very well indeed.
Back soon!

This isnt a bad pub although during the day it lacks any atmosphere due to its size and furnishings. The entrance takes you into a big room with large wooden tables and a bar at the back of the pub. There is another large area with sofas and a plasma screen further into the pub that leads to a nice large function room.
The staff were pleasant enough and Youngs Special and Ordinary were available alongside Tribute and various lagers etc. The Bombardier was off, but the Tribute was very good. Unfortunately I thought that the food was a bit of a rip off on the portion sizes, but then this is a gastro type place.
There was a band advertised for the evening so maybe the pub livens up when the sun goes down. Id maybe go back here with the misses for a nice relaxed drink, but its not the place you meet up with all the boys for a large one.

I didn't really want to go in this pub at first, but I was pleasantly suprised when dragged in by a friend. It is nicely refurbished and very comfortable. No annoying football on TV and no loud music. Toilets are immaculate, you could eat your dinner off the urinals (although I wouldn't actually recommend it) My first pint of Youngs was extremely warm and flat, but I asked for a replacement and the lovely barmaid give me a new (cooler) pint from another pump without any hassle, which was perfect. If you love back street 'locals', this probably isn't the place for you, but I would recommend anyone to at least give it a try.

I agree with AbeC, not bad at all. When I visited the beer was really, really good. The food is a bit pricey for what it is - expectations are raised by nearly 10 for a main course!

A refurb has left the place looking clean, smart and spacious, but echoey because of it, and devoid of any personality. Sat there having a drink is like drinking a pint in church - high ceilings and no-one else to be seen. The few older locals that are there have yet to wash themselves thoroughly to bring them up to standard of the rest of the bar. A few younger trendy types are starting to populate this pub, i can only hope for the pub this continues, as it's clearly their target market. If they had to rely on the locals, then the prices would soon put them out of business - nice real ale, served at the right temperature (but where was the Bombardier? maybe i visited on a bad night), but the food was a disappointment... you will get no more than 5 chips with any ordered burger, and they think that serving it on a wooden block makes up for the lack of food. Don't expect the salad to be any better neither - no dressing, just mayo 'dolloped' onto the lettuce leaves. If you are not going to make the effort, or have the 'expertise' in the kitchen to do a decent job of a simple salad, then expect more food to be returned by dissappointed by punters. Are there students in the kitchen only use to heating microwave meals?

Another recent Youngs refurb, but I am delighted to say (and in contrast with some,) a really good one.
This is a big pub with 3 rooms - what's nice is each has been decorated differently - a nice big light front bar with oak tables and only some destruction of the Victoriana, then a cosy club-like room with red seats and dark look, and then a big woody back room.
The beer is good and the burgers too - but I think others are right in saying it's a little expensive.

Gone upmarket since days as Two Brewers and is perhaps a little souless now. One of the many monuments to Youngs in the area. Don't know about the Guinness but the the local beer is generally in good nick and not exorbitant (though some others nearby are a bit cheaper). Worth trying.

Big comfortable pub but needs decorating. Beer good and food excellent, I found the bar staff friendly and efficient. The prices arent cheap, but where is in London. Very quite, could do with a bit more atmosphere but fine for a quite drink and a chat.

Another visit to the pub - beer gone up, now 3.20 a pint which is not suprising really. We were sat in the garden and the bar manager keep coming out and looking at us, tutting and walking back in the bar. If she wanted us to move she could have just asked or if she felt like doing any work at all she could have removed the empties from our table. But seeing that it was only 9pm on a hot summers evening we couldn't understand what the problem was.
unhappy management make an unwelcoming place to visit when back in town.

now, i know this will come as a surprise given the character and personality of the wandsworth area as a whole, but guess what? yep, it's soulless. at least though all the Bobsters prefer to congregate in the alma or that travesty known as Boom on st. johns hill.

AVOID! Full of the Pikies from the Oak next door waiting for happy hour to begin. Also very arrogant barman [fat bloke who seems cant dress himself properly]. Gets very packed on a footie night and is also expensive...3.10 for Stella. ouch. Also if you are a non smoker like myself its best avoided as it does get very smokey.

Good beer, in a traditional pub setting with large dining/function room at the back. Food not bad but a bit pricey for what it is. Local councillors often drop in before and after meetings at the town hall. "Beer garden" is overselling it a bit - "outside seating area" is probably more accurate

Was this pub once called the TWO BREWERS? in the 19th and early 20th Century?

This is actually one of my nearest pubs. Being in the shadow of the Youngs brewery, the beer is well kept. The food is good and the atmosphere is always relaxed. It even has a bit of a beer garden outside.

Possibly the best Youngs pub in Wandsworth town centre. Large rooms, good food, good beer, loads of staff. What more could you ask for. Doesn't get too crowded either.

Bit hazy by the time I got here at 10.45 but it seemed very pleasant and the beer was good

Excellent Pub with friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, well kept beer, good range of wines, well cooked traditional and exciting food plus three different rooms to suit your needs.

Actual old looking pub (as oppose to faux old theme boozers), great for a post Sunday roast chill in the leather armchairs. You can even stay in one of the "16 well appointed bedrooms"
