Second stop on a visit to West London on Sunday after a Wetherspoon's breakfast at the Greenwood Hotel, Northolt. The Bridge House is located near to Little Venice in a prominent corner location. Similar to Mappiman, this wasn't really a place that floated my boat (or should it be barge?). It's a strange place. The theatre is upstairs. Downstairs feels more like a gastropub than a bar. There is a strange mix of furniture. Doom Bar appears to be the regular ale. Broadside & Ubu were the guests. The Broadside was very cloudy, either because it was the first one pulled through or it was the end of the cask. Either way, a disappointing visit.

Not actually sure if this is a pub. Outside, it says "Canal, Cafe, Theatre"
Decided it wasnt really for me and moved on.

Was very busy when I went there, not surprisingly as it was a sunny Sunday and this pub is just by Little Venice. Too busy for me so I had a half of TT Landlord in a plastic glass - you could get glass but only to use inside - and went out into the sun. Hard to tell how good a pub is when it is that busy really.

Tastefully designed pub which is popular with couple and groups. Both barmen provided such an inordinately slow service one gets the impression that it's intentional.

Arranged to meet friends here for a quiet Sunday lunch and was very disappointed. The pub was relatively quiet yet the staff still managed to totally screw up a simple order for food. Beer was OK and you can't complain about the prices but there's plenty of keener competition to be had in the area.

Mixed feelings about the Bridge House. Popped in at 4pm on a Sunday. Great location and good atmosphere. Ale well kept & served. Food also good, although several menu options weren't available - veggie platter? How difficult can it be? Went again on a Friday night. Oh dear. 2 of our 4 managed to get their food within an hour, chips missing from one meal. After a further half an hour had to cancel the other 2 meals. Was rudely told by the barman that he was serving food (to some lucky punter) and I was to go and wait down by the till. Asked for the manager who never appeared and eventually got refund. Went on to the Warrington which was a different story altogether. Friendly, efficient staff - bar menu served within 10 minutes. Until the Bridge House sort out their staff & kitchen problems I'll go to the Warrington instead.

It's a cold and dark October evening, a windy and damp one. I'm cold looking for a comfortable place to have a beer. The sign outside this pub says invitingly: "Come inside and warm your cockles by our fire".
Was there a fire?
No there wasn't! It was not on.
Asked why not? The barman said it was because someone complained it was too hot.
I do not believe him. This was a lie. Minus 3 points.
Price of Aspell's cyder = 3.55
I did not find the price list. Minus 2 points.

I've seen all this comments so i decide to write a feedback as well even if i usualy don't do this. what can i say i've been there on sunday with my girlfriend and another couple, all of us enjoyed the atmosphere and the show from the theatre, in our opinion they should have more bar staf because they was struggleing ,but it worth to wait until it come our turn to order becauze the sunday roast was amazeing so hard to bealive cause they serve everything fresh(in a pub) so compliments to the chef and theatre ,made our sunday night a good one ! Definitely we will come back.

We found this pub very cosy and the food was genuine good pub fare. Sitting outside was relaxed. As we are veggies we often get fobbed off with frozen "lasagne" microwaved to a mush. But here the food was good, there WAS a choice and obviously cooked fresh. We had a very relaxed evening but unfortunately were too tired to visit the theatre which sounded great! Will be returning :)

We are locals in this area and have been here a few times and although the service is NOT good we have still come to this bar as it has been convenient for us. HOWEVER we have finally decided to pull the plug on this bar due to a recent visit where we received POOR service and the food was awful. Our white wine was warm, the girl behind the bar was rude, the food was cold & my friend's steak was red on the outside, my chicken was burnt dry...to name just a few. Really disappointed as we have tried to ignore this service every visit but after meeting with friends here recently all I can say is that this bar has lost about a dozen good locals!

I received unbelievably bad service from the barman in here and my Guinness was the worst poured Ive ever seen. A third of it was head and it was poured in one go into an IPA glass and delivered to me with a grimace. Often when confronted with an ignorant and curt barperson I usually make the effort to get something out of them in the form of a brief conversation, but this guy was having none of it.
Along with the Guinness, Landlord, Pride, Greene King IPA, Carling and Premium lagers were also available. The pub does have a bohemian feel so if you like drinking in a darkened room with sheets on the oddly fitting sofas and curtains over the windows blocking out the sun youll love it here. I think that the mind numbing jazz playing in the background was the final straw that made me walk outside to finish my drink and have a ciggy. If this pub was any closer to the canal it would be in it, yet it has no views of it whatsoever.
Maybe the theatre upstairs has some good performances as there surely has to be something that keeps people going here.
It is a certainty that I will give this place a miss when Im next in the area.

Called into here for a quick pint on our way to the Warwick Castle, the lads at Paddington Fire Station told us the Warwick was the better pub and they werent wrong. It was liking walking into a private function with people looking us like we had two heads (some of us did). Took ages getting served too - so not impressed!

I can understand the mixed reviews of this place - I have been here many times and also have had ups and downs. The service is very variable - when busy you can be waiting a long time to get a drink. Beer is generally okay though I've had an occasional stale pint of ale when it's been quiet. Food is quite good. Decor interesting - dark with lots of red velvet. They have a theatre upstairs so the crush tends to ease a little when a performance starts. They do bbqs outside in the summer, when people spill out on to the pavement. It's next to the canal but from the pub you don't really have a view.

Bohemian, theatre like pub with curtains in front of the toilets. GK IPA, Pride and Bombadier on. Very average pint and 2.82 average for our 3 pint round.
Not my kind of pub. Felt old at 40.

What began as a pleasant experience knocking back a couple of refreshing Peroni with some friends, turned into a travesty of an afternoon with useless bar staff and clearly an even more incompetant chef.
I ordered Bangers & Mash (called something fancy but at the end of the day, it's still Bangers and Mash) with a large group of people. After an hour of waiting and everone else getting thier meal long ago, I inquired as to the whereabouts of mine.
"Oh, we forgot to tell you. We have a new chef and he's run out of Mash" WTF - go to Tesco's, buy a bag of potatoes, clean, cook then mash - it's not rocket science, he had an hour!
After this unpleasant experience and refund, I opted for a simple bowl of wedges for a simple Chef. 45 minutes later I inquire as to the whereabouts of my Wedges? "It appears the Chef forgot to cook them"
Needless to say at this point, I wasn't to happy and staff didn't seem to care. I wasn't the only one to have food issues in our group so I will never be back to this pub again and nor will the large group I was drinking with.

This pub has always had a bit of an odd feeling. Its such a shame to see the wall paper peeling off the walls and the shabby decor. When we visited we chose to have a couple of pints of larger, we asked if it possible to have some beer mats but was told "No", its not the bar policy. The beer was terrible so we left it. Everyone seemed to be drinking tea and reading newspapers, like a student rest room. The bar & tables were unclean & sticky. Nobody cleaned while we were there. They obviously serve food, Saw him in the toilets with his Chefs whites on......Yuk. What we want is a clean pub with good beer and a spark of interest and concern from staff.
|
Don't know what to make of this place - decor slightly at odds with itself.
An OK but not unusual choice of European beers as mentioned elsewhere.
Two cask ales on - Old Speckled Hen and Adnams Broadside - the Broadside was pretty poor and since we don't like the OSH we left to try somewhere else in the Paddington area...
|
Nice place, been twice, had nice reasonable food too, would go back...
|
Thought the decor was a bit strange, but the place has a nice atmosphere and was pretty comfortable.
Impressive and interesting range of beers on tap - Franziskaner Weissbier, Kupper's Kolsch, Sleemans Honey Brown Lager, Hoegaarden, Leffe, Bellevue Kriek and 3 real ales (one was Old Speckled Hen, but can't think of the others)all in good nick and served in the proper glasses.
The comedy club upstairs is definitely worth a look too. Good stuff.
|
Great little pub - try the comedy club upstairs - a tenner for a great laugh. good beer, food good, great atmosphere
|
Good beer but rammed pub, not helped by the closure of the beer garden on my visit. I bet it's quite good during mid afternoon when there are fewer people there.
|
Good location just by Little Venice. Short walk from Paddington Station but seems miles away in atmosphere.
|
LOL about the toilet curtains.
|
not sure what the theatre curtains around the toilets are all about. i was expecting to come out to a post piss round of applause...
|
Great burgers, (8oz Angus steak) a bit much for my wife but luckily I was feeling hungary.
|
Favourite Maida Vale bar at the moment. Relaxed atmosphere, good food, friendly staff.

Very nice pub, not a lot of space but nice atmosphere and lovely location in Little Venice. Now run by Tracey (ex of the Auctioneer, Greenwich) which has received some rather unfair criticism on here. Not been to the theatre upstairs but I hear it's good of an evening. 7/10
