user reviews of the Green Dragon, Flaunden

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Green Dragon is an early 17th Century country Inn situated in the picturesque rural village of Flaunden, in the Chiltern Hills. This ancient rural pub is a free house and has been in the same family for over eighty years.
Four well kept beers on and a nice secluded beer garden out back.
A good one for the pub enthusiasts as it is included in the Heritage pub national inventory for the barely altered 19th century Tap Room which you can find back inside the main building on the front right hand side of the main bar area. And also has some interesting historical figures as former locals.. But to find out about all that you are better off going to more informative pub review sites like PubsGalore.

Recently been added to the National Inventory of Pubs of Historic Interest.

Exceptionally good.

The person who said 'new management' was wrong. This pub has been in the same family for generations and is the most genuine of local pubs anyone could wish to visit.

This pub embodies everything I love about English pubs.

That should be enough, but I feel the need to elaborate...

Bar staff that make the punter feel appreciated.

Punters that are wonderful to converse with.

An atmosphere that just says "welcome!"

Everything you could honestly wish for in a boozer.

Brilliant fusion of traditional country pub and innovative menu.

I've been here quite a few times recently and the atmosphere is just right. the beer is always well kept even if the range is limited ... But so what - I'd rather know I was going to get a decent pint than have to be adventurous.

The food is good value (and yes the Thai can be on the hot side).

A decent pub and much more of a local than the Bricklayers Arms just down the road. Food was fine, but the beer choice was a little staid; I mean in all honesty, who in their right mind drinks the awful Greene King IPA these days?
All in all though, not a bad boozer.

Situated in the beautiful village of Flaunden, Bucks this lovely pub has the omnipresent Green King IPA, Abbott Ale, London Pride plus surprisingly ESB. The menu's now changed to include Thai food but untried. The previous couple of times this place was full of local characters, sadly missing this occasion! Unfortunately overshadowed by the Bricklayer's Arms further on in the village - 7/10

Beer's OK. Unusual old local (not many of them left now). Worth a visit.

New management. Mostly Thai food but you can get british pub food and sandwiches too. Watch the Thai stuff though - it's wickedly hot. Staff very friendly, beer was good and not too costly. It's the sort of pub you'd find in films - very British (except the new menu!). Nice location too.

I've been past this pub a few times and a mate noticed it. I suggested we enter. Pleasant suprise!

Abbot Ale was excellent. Scrumpy was on par. Fine setting and furniture. High Footballers Wives quotient - goes with the territory.

I remember the first time I saw this pub. I was driving along a narrow, leafy lane and suddenly up ahead I saw a strange, green, dragon-like head peering over the hedgerows! I don't know if they still have this in their garden, but it was a wooden dragon's head of the Green Dragon pub! It certainly left an impression on me!

I am an American and I went to visit Latimer, a nearby town and stopped at The Green Dragon. The people were very cordial and friendly. The food was excellent and the ale was great. I consider it my favorite pub in Great Britain. I am a little bias though...my last name is Latimer.

Love this country pub, my dad got very drunk in this pub the day my Brother was born. Beautiful village sent in the Chilterns, not far from Chorleywood and M25. Create for late summer nights, drinking! Great beer tooo
