As noted below, the only non hotel bar we found in the centre of town. Saying that there's a large outdoor seating area (with heat lamps) and live jazz every thursday which were pleasant enough and the place was busy compared to the hotel bar we tried.
The two ales we had were both excellent and the staff friendly. Didn't try the food. But probably the best choice unless you fancy the walk out of town to Ty Gwyn.

Best plate of fat juicy mussels I ever had--must have been 2-3 dozen. Also an excellent "Kate & Sidney" pie.

This pub has an excellent position with plenty of potential.Let down by indifferent staff and dreadful food. Poorly prepared and staff indifferent to comments on quality. In my opinion best avoided unless you're happy with fast food that's been left to go cold then reheated!

Very nice, popular with tourists/ramblers, always busy with decent food.

If you're visiting Betws then be aware that this is the only pub in the village apart from the hotel bars. It's a functional place mainly frequented by tourists without much atmosphere. The staff are pretty impersonal but very efficient - food arrives and tables are cleared quickly. Food is OK but nothing special (my chicken curry was padded out with loads of mushroom and onion) and not particularly cheap.

Good atmosphere with live entertainment. Staff are less than friendly and let the place down.

Good atmosphere. Appeals to people of all ages. Live Jazz on a thursday and a male voice choir every other Friday. A visitors pub not frequented by many locals.
