Shut!

decent pub, been in there for darts a few times, average facilities where that's concerned, but excellent interior and lots of big screens, would be a good venue to watch the football...
Modern inside and, I would imagine, good for sport as there are several large tv screens. Didn't spend too much time in there, as we were on a tight schedule.
The bright lights and new furniture are stand out features of this pub !!
The integral Thai restaurant, located downstairs, is excellent (booking on Fridays is prudent). Beer generally OK.
good place to watch sport, nice to have somewhere normal in a wierd area. they also do 3D football, which i must check out! And the tubby issacs seafood staff on the side alley makes it worth the trip
DEuchars IPA, Pride, Adnams and Courage Best. Couldn't fault the IPA - especially at 2.60. Pub looked a bit like a recently opened Spoons but the staff were an awful lot better! A Thorley Taverns place.
Close to Aldgate East Station, a bright and clean pub but a bit sterile with loads of white pine furniture. Deuchars and Pride plus a couple of others on. Four TVs showing two different channels which is useful for live sport. Also a 5th plasma screen with a music channel on mute whilst different music was playing over the speakers, which seemed a bit pointless. Got the impression that its tried to go upmarket with a bit of a refurb but hasnt attracted any new clientele.
This pub was a pleasant surprise. Obviously recently done up, with a nice pint of Deuchars and decent enough service. It looks skanky from the outside, but don't let that fool you.
Much better since they brightened the place up a bit. Good place to watch sport if that's what you look for. More TVs then you can shake a stick at. Ive eaten down stairs once or twice and the Thai food is ok.
called in here with the missus on sat night after a brick lane dinner , Saw it was a Thorley tavern and have seen them on the Pub channel on sky. maybe they forgot about this pub when they spoke of customer service and attention to detail. I can understand the place gets busy but still no excuse for dirty tables , bar area and staff who struggle with pint of fosters and Jd & coke please ( had to say it 3 times slowly). For a drink in the area i would say there are better pubs close by. they must do better to keep locals coming back.
Looks to have been recently done up giving it a fresh look with ample TV screens showing lots of different channels. Not bad at all given its location.
Bright, light and trendy. On the up!
well the staff are getting worse if thats possible never had the right drink i've ordered the only good time in there is when your too pissed to notice anything and the footie is on so you can't notice anything

HA HA HA HA HO HO HO HO WHAT IS THIS PLACE. NOT ONE PERSON WORKING HERE SHOULD HAVE A JOB IN HOSPITALITY. I AM GOING TO SET UP A TRAINING COURSE AND USE THIS PUB AS THE ---HOW NOT TO DO IT ---- SECTION. Come on people,,, after the make over you should have got rid of the dross and employed a Hospitality trained manager who waas capable of employing and training staff in basic Hello how are you today and what can i get you.HA HA HA shame shame. Any one with an ounce of decency would leave. This meens you manager.Sorry but that word should not be used in the same sentence as Aldagate Exchange. HA HA. I WILL BE BACK FOR A LAUGH. OUT AND USELESS PIECE OF ^%&*%%&*
Thai food gone downhill since they changed kitchen staff a few weeks ago. Steer clear of the bitter in here too, they have no idea how to keep it.
Pub is ok, nice few teles around to watch the football cheap enough beer as well not had a bad pint when ive been there.
Not good when they say sorry closing early tonight for the Jack the Ripper tour party coming in.
Has a dart board which isn't crowded into a corner, cheap Broon Ale, and a big screen and lots of TV's for when the footy is on. Also doesn't attract any of the students from the Uni next door which can only be a bonus. Sometimes less is more
absolutly awful, the so called manager is rude and does no work, the staff haven't a clue and i've never got the drink i have asked for. thai food downstairs is lovely they'd be better in charge

This is a tough pub to rate because the service is slow and the beer isn't very good. On the other hand the Thai food served in the basement at lunchtimes is some of the best I've ever had. Much better than Thai Square restaurant on the other side of Aldgate.
This makes it a great place for lunch but poor for anything else.
(WARNING: don't eat upstairs as it serves standard grub at a slow pace)

Another Thorley Tavern. Thorleys should be added to 'chain bars' list on this site as Frank & Phillip Thorley are hoping to be the next JD Wetherspoon. God help us all!!! I actually worked behind this bar for 2 days. The food is fantastic, actual proper thais come in to do the cooking and take all the money made from the food. The booze is lousy cos Thorley buys it in cheap. $$$$$$$$$
Cack atmosphere, grotty part of London. Walk 5mins in any direction and you will find a much better boozer.
Used to use this on Friday lunchtimes as it was not busy, but after a few poor pints and messed up food orders I've had to blacklist it.

Part of the Thorley Taverns chain - this one close to Aldgate East tube station (but aren't they all?) Lots of wooden interiors - especially in the basement, but not a lot of atmosphere. The real ales tasted really awful, and the Kronenbourg was warm and had an odd flavour. However the Thai food at lunchtimes smelled and tasted excellent.
