Decent enough pub that seems to have had an internal makeover so it matches the current Marston's corporate style (it's very similar to a couple of new build pubs we know) while keeping the outside as it was.
The beer was good, Pedigree was in good condition and Milady's Cockerhoop (Jennings) was fine.
The food was maybe a bit unimaginative and pre-cooked, but OK for the price. There's nothing wrong with the pub, but there are better bets in town

Some good beers on the bar. Nice atmosphere in a fairly well preserved Victorian pub. Long may it remain so.

Average busy town pub with a few ales on. Tried a pint of Jennings Cocky Blonde which was reasonable enough.

Just for the record this is a Marston's pub and not a Marston Moor one as listed here. As tarkatherotter says not a lot of character, I prefer the Swan or the Sun Inn.

A fairly large, rambling ,chain type pub . Good friendly service, ok food served quite quickly and 4 hand pulled ales on offer:- I tried the Jennings bitter which was good. A port in a storm which revitalised me in the middle of a long day out. But not really a charactersome pub for the pub officianado. It does what it says on the tin, but no more.

the woman behind the bar (quite overweight, short greasy hair, had a mouth on her) very rude, makes me want to go back just to sit for hours with one glass of tap water. won't be returning.

A really nice pub and one which I make a point of visiting whenever in Buxton. The beer is excellent and the food seems to be well received. Confession time-unlike the local people, I like drinking fron a dimpled jug. Not only did a nice young lady find me one of the pub's only two examples, but remembered me the next day. What service!

Good beer and plenty of room. Seating outside in the afternoon sun so enjoyed a pleasent hour here.

Quite a pleasant large pub with Marston beers available, somewhat lacking in atmosphere. Didn't observe any food being served so can't comment.

I recently moved to Buxton (Dec 07) and popped in about 4pm on New Years Eve. This is a large pub with 2 separate seating areas and friendly staff. I tried the Marstons Pedigree, which was lovely and they sold Burton bitter with the usual largers. The decor was clean, a bit unimaginative... but I'd definitely go back for the Pedigree.

really nice pub. pints are about average price but their really well chilled so makes up for it:) also has a video juke box so you can choose the music videos on all around the pub which i liked.
