What a great venue, I've been here a few times and drank at the bar. Staff are fantastic and the selection of local beers is something to be proud of. We didn't eat but the food coming out looked amazing so I will be back to sample this... A great find!

It's really a restaurant not a pub but lovely decor inside, good wine list and the barstaff were helpful and friendly.

Walked past this pub yesterday; It looks to have been renamed The Princess of Shoreditch for some reason. Certainly looked like a restaurant to me.

Any good beer quality - and it was good, Meantime and Sambrook beers - very local - is negated by the chilly attitude of this pub. Hardly any of the old interior remains, a Trumans window above one door and some of the stained glass seems to be all. I went in there at six intending to eat and was told they didn't do food until 8.30. Returning to rejoin the group I was with, there were 25 of us and we put a considerable amount of money across the bar, but the management didn't seem overenthusiastic about us. The third beer is Tring Side Pocket for a Toad which is unusual to find in a pub in London, but this place is still really a restaurant.

This place has gone fully gastro - all the tables were set for meals when I went in leaving the drinker stuck with three or four stools at the bar. The doorway greeting by one of the staff was further confirmation that this place sees itself as an eatery rather than a pub.

All that said the interior was ok and there were three reasonably interesting beers on tap - Wandle, a locally brewed London Pale Ale and a beer from the Tring brewery with a complicated name (Slide in the Pocket?)

Peroni however was north of 4 quid a pint and the focus on food means it's unlikely I'll ever return here and I can't really recommend it for drinkers.

Was in here about a year ago and liked it as a normal cosy boozer. I walk past it regularly and there have been recent refurbishments. I think it may have gone down the path of "gastro grill" which, if it indeed has, is a real shame.

nice pub, strikingly pretty brunette working there at the moment. :) ok ok, its got stripped decor but is morehomely than the fox and its got a nice selection of spirits.

Fairly smart Shoreditch pub, but not over-refurbished or converted to some sort of fancy 'bar & grill' that has been the fate of many places around here. Four real ales on (two Adnams, Landlord and Black Sheep). Busy, but not overcrowded or over-loud (customer or music-wise). Better than I was expecting. NB - Just called the Princess now (but the old name can still be seen in some of the etched glass).

During my recent visit this place was serving up Landlord, Adnams and a selection of premium lagers with another unidentified ale being off. The other punters seemed to be having an I can talk louder than you competition so I decided to finish my pint outside with a nice relaxing cigarette.

I didnt find the staff to be overly friendly and I can stand outside any pub for a smoke so Ill be giving the place a miss in future.

This place has changed hands recently, and improved a lot. The loos have been refurbished and are now fine. The bar food menu has been slimmed down but is still decent. The food upstairs used to be very good indeed, but I haven't eaten there since the change so I shouldn't comment. They serve well-kept Timothy Taylors and London Pride and the wine is decent too. The staff are attentive and know what they're doing and the ratio to drinkers is much improved too. I think this is one of the best pubs in the area, with an acceptable balance of suits and too cool for school Hoxtonites.

This area is full of interesting places. This isn't one of them.

Avoid -- In the ladies loo the splattered seat was laying on the floor, there was no paper or soap to be found. When I informed the manager, he told me, "Women are just like that." If that's how their public areas are maintained, just imagine the kitchen.

A pretty good pub for an after work beer, the Landlord is usually in good condition and is well worth a second and third pint. There's usually an interesting mix of bohemian types and suits, the music is always good (if at times a little loud, or am I just a little too old?).

The barstaff are friendly but I prefer the cutsie redhead to the blonde!

Nice pub, much better than the fox. And the blonde barmaid is quite fit.

Clean, tidy, quite busy even on a Monday.
Good service, good selection of drinks and looks like a decent menu. Certainly alot better than some of the other Hoxton Goon-palaces nearby. Check it out.

Really great,
never had a problem here. Always clean & well managed.

Solid pub. Open plan and visually rather like being in a black & white film. Strange atmospheric minimalism and coldness about the place - but that could just be coz I went there on a Monday night. Acceptable for a couple of pints, but you wouldn't want to get messy in there.

I met a friend here for evening food and quiet drinks on a week night. The upstairs part of the bar (serving food) had a beautiful ambience, candles and the correct lighting (which is usually so hard to find). The menu was really good and quite challenging. Really good service by a burly eastend man (it seemed a bit surreal), but overall excellent choice for some reasonably priced food during the week. Quite a romantic setting, nice choice for a first date I'd say.

Gem of a boozer.

The ladies behind the bar serve you with a style and standard of service thats sadly lacking in London these days. Generally quiet, decent range of beverages, and food during the day. Come experience the magic that is.....!
