New carpet, like a posh pub!
|
The man's name is Aiden and he only has one pub as far as I know, was drinking with him Saturday elsewhere in town.
|
I cannot think of any reason to ever go back here again. It's still better than The Woodman, though.
|
The problems started here when Eamonn left his new girlfriend to run the place single handed, so that he could concentrate on his other pubs.Very sad as two years ago a decent pint of Harvey's was available for 1.80 !
|
Nothing special it had not atmosphere. Will not be going back.
|
Well, I think the literacy of the posts from people who DO enjoy this pub says it all.
|
A paddy pub that you thought no longer existed. If you want a fight foul language and a crowd of morons that look like they have escaped from the zoo this is for you. Very smokey, no one, obeys the no smoking law including the guy who seems to be the manager. How do the authorities allow it to stay open no wonder its half empty. One improvement I can think of change the licensee

I've never been to this pub, and judging by the comments nor do I feel inclined to do so. I just want to say that my_world's contribution was the funniest I've read in ages. Please submit some more reviews, it'll mack my day.

Ansolute disgrace of a pub. I think their clientele is summed up by the 19 year old genius posting his comments as "my world". If your not Irish or handy with your fists dont bother as you are a second class citizen. Tried it twice and that is more than enough. The regulars are welcome to this place. Even the Swan and Sugarloaf is paradise compared to this place.

Was that in English? Or did you just get home from the Croham Arms?

i love this pub i am only 19 me and my mates love it every time i meet up with my friend in there they never wont to leve and all ways come back the bar stuff are all ways nice and try to mack every one happy if you go in on your own they well stop to talk to you very friendly. there is a lot off irish in there but they are all very nice people how wood go out there way to talk to you and mack you fell welcome there is never figths but there was one nite when to lades how now each other has a littow row and then one got hit but they where friend and did mack up the next day there is allways to side to a story, the it dose need a litto clean in there but there is no point tell after the smocking ban and they do good disco for partys they allways go out the way to mack every think run smouthly very good pub and nice people

Nice enough. The outside garden area is good in the summer. Wouldn't be my first choice, but can't really fault it based on a 2-hour visit.
|
Now I understand some of the reservations expressed about this pub and if I'm honest I wouldn't take my wife. However, I like the place. It's a real pub with a good mix of people. Some of the regulars look like they might swing for you after a session but that said I have never seen any trouble. In fact I always use the Croham as a meeting place when I go out for a few pints with the lads in Croydon. Serves a fairly decent pint of Harveys too.

very pleasant experience. was drinking there last nite and there was three men banging each other over the head with spoons!

What a pub, has an incredible shrinking christmas tree, a real mixed clientele, landlord top man, when he bothers to show up! for the sporting types there's a dart board, for the mad loud hard drinking types theres the other end, and for a nice quiet drink with the missus there's no man's land in between.Bar staff are friendly, indeed they can't do enough for some customers!
|
Where do I start?
Dirty glasses, dirty carpet, bad beer and run by the very uninviting regulars.
From the moment I walked in, I wanted to leave (I would have, if I could have unstuck my feet from the carpet).
The pub is made up of two ends of the bar. One end is VERY quiet and the other seemed to be full of drunk Irish lads singing anti-British songs and falling into people.
The landlord looked on and did nothing.
As a man, it was intimidating. If I'd been a woman, I'd ahve been terrified. No wonder there was only one woman in there.

cant wait 4 another fright night! wat a PUB! and cant them irish boys sing!cant wait 4 christmas

Was there last weekend. Football on the screens but few watching it. Young female barstaff, pleasant enough. Service acceptable. Beer okay. Nothing fancy. Clientele a mixed bunch. Another bulk standard Croydon pub neither good or bad, just plain average.

Come on Aidan - splash out on some new CDs and some decent toilet seats for the ladies which are rough as old boots. Some bog roll would come in useful as well!

My what a pub, what a landlord and what great customers!(around the irish end)but what a crap jukebox! more irish songs needed badly!and more happy hours, maybe between 7 and 12 on fridays now that would be good.ROCK ON YOU MAD IRISH MEN,U NO WHO YOU ARE!!!!!11

Went to this place with a few of my friends the other night - and all i can say is that we would not return in a hurry. The place was full of really dodgy looking drunk blokes shouting and letching at us. The music played was all Irish, which dont get me wrong - has its place - but not when it is forced upon everybody. The bar staff were plesant, and the service OK, but the customers, drunk loud, and - sorry to say - mainly Irish blokes did not make us girls feel safe. Needless to say when they started to bring in things from outside and bang on the windows -we decided to leave. We went to another local pub (review left) and would certainly not risk that hostile atmosphere in there again. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE for a girls night out.
We have read the other reviwes on this page and can only assume that things have gone downhill since.

'Laid back Ron' used to frequent here many moons ago!!
|
nice pub, it seemed reasonably friendly. We had a quick drink here but the clientele is a bit old to stay too long.
|
Blinding pub this one. Very friendly bar staff (although not the stunning eastern European bird who's a bit stuffy). If darts is your thing then this place is for you. As I write this they're team is top of the local league. All in all a great atmosphere and good beer.
|
a great pub with a great atmosphere i started playing in the wednesday dart team recently and have been made very welcome.

Ran by an excentric Irishman (Aiden) this neibourhood pub is constantly being improved (see the fountain in the garden) and at the weekend (and most of the week) no matter what is always full. Takes good care of the beer and his customners.
