Aleksander, East Twickenhamback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Essentially a restaurant as opposed to a pub, but very pleasant nonetheless less. Had a good pint of Camden Hells followed by the very reasonable lunch menu, which consisted of a starter and sizeable pizza for a tenner. Sit outside for lovely views overlooking picturesque Marble Hill park.

The Aleksander is a perfectly reasonable pub, but doesn't quite work for me. In fairness it has a good range of unusual German lagers and other beers, and i have heard the pizza is pretty awesome. However, i found it a little lacking in atmosphere, and not particularly cosy. I could imagine it being packed at the weekends tho, and very popular (and probably aimed at) families doing Sunday lunch

Fantastic pub, great beers, italian food, and most importantly elitist service. You need to book for weekends for food but a pub that is leading from the front. Roger and Magda the owners fantastic running a great team. Try it......

Another great evening in the packed Aleksander tonight. Lots of the tables in the bar area are reserved at weekends which can be a bit annoying although the staff do their utmost to help out. In fact the service in this pub puts others in the area to shame. Good acoustic band gave it a really fun atmosphere. Assorted beers kept well. Slight edge taken off when I got home and found I'd been given a 2 Euro coin in my change. Still, this is the best pub in the area at the moment.

I find the previous comment about the manager very difficult to believe, going there quite regularly myself and having had many a conversation with him.
The pub does good beer, although doesn't rotate them that often and the food's good and reasonably priced, too.

Having visited the Aleksander I found it to be a nice venue. However I was unfortunate to have a conversation on the phone with the manager following this and he was extremely rude to me. He attempted to make me feel as small as possible and I left the phone conversation in tears. I will never go this venue again as long as this manager (Roger) is in place. I believe it's not just the decor that makes a good venue but the friendliness of the manager too.

This was the Rising Sun and then the Marble Hill. I attended the opening party & was favourably impressed but haven't been back since as I drink in Richmond. It is now free house serving home made pizza cooked in a wood fired oven and aiming at the local very numerous young families.
It's a good stop on a pub crawl between Richmond riverside and Twickenham riverside. The next pub along, the Crown, is closed for a rebuild.
