Essentially a restaurant as opposed to a pub, but very pleasant nonetheless less. Had a good pint of Camden Hells followed by the very reasonable lunch menu, which consisted of a starter and sizeable pizza for a tenner. Sit outside for lovely views overlooking picturesque Marble Hill park. Pinchy87 - 14 Oct 2014 08:18 |
The Aleksander is a perfectly reasonable pub, but doesn't quite work for me. In fairness it has a good range of unusual German lagers and other beers, and i have heard the pizza is pretty awesome. However, i found it a little lacking in atmosphere, and not particularly cosy. I could imagine it being packed at the weekends tho, and very popular (and probably aimed at) families doing Sunday lunch The_Speckled_Hen - 11 Feb 2014 14:54 |
Fantastic pub, great beers, italian food, and most importantly elitist service. You need to book for weekends for food but a pub that is leading from the front. Roger and Magda the owners fantastic running a great team. Try it...... jellylegs - 27 Oct 2013 09:29 |
Another great evening in the packed Aleksander tonight. Lots of the tables in the bar area are reserved at weekends which can be a bit annoying although the staff do their utmost to help out. In fact the service in this pub puts others in the area to shame. Good acoustic band gave it a really fun atmosphere. Assorted beers kept well. Slight edge taken off when I got home and found I'd been given a 2 Euro coin in my change. Still, this is the best pub in the area at the moment. roger_c - 13 Oct 2013 00:33 |
I find the previous comment about the manager very difficult to believe, going there quite regularly myself and having had many a conversation with him. The pub does good beer, although doesn't rotate them that often and the food's good and reasonably priced, too. tfm - 29 Jun 2013 13:02 |
