This is by far my favourite pub in the area for a beer now. After a couple of years of languishing with identikit lagers and the odd nice ale, they now have two nice handpulls, a kegged IPA, a 'craft' lager and dozens and dozens of bottles from around the world.
It's not the cheapest place around, but you get a really nice crowd in, and the decor, staff and food are all fantastic

Gave the Star and Anchor after the Ealing Beer festival a few Saturdays back - What can I say, They had some live Blues, and the atmosphere was fantastic, It was busy, but we didn't have to wait long for a drink, they had an amazing rang of craft beers (I had an Odells I think, a few beers at the festival leave me hazy)
there was a great garden out the back, but the music was too good to spend too much time outside smoking!
I have only just found this place but am VERY glad I have (and have been back several times since)
If you haven't been there, give it a visit!

Good service and a nice pint

I agree with the guy below, looks really nice but the food is not good and the new manager is a dick.

WTF.....this place looks class, but they got the must annyoing barman ever who would not shut the fuck up about his 'amazing' bloody marys, what an ass. to in your face for my liking.
anyway roast was so so, below standard for its price, but other punters did not think so as it was fairly busy.
real ale was like muck

guinness is a no go'er but the pub is well decorated, no one in while having a drink but will be back looks like a decent enough place

Now the Star and Anchor. I like this place, and it's much more my style than the other pubs on this strip of the Broadway. Good food, although small-ish menu, and decor is good. Not too busy except Friday night. Real fire. Two ales on and decent wines. One thing I will say - the beer garden isn't all that, ignore the 'stunning garden' comment on the signboard. Still, the outside space is good to read the Sunday papers in. Friendly staff and a big improvement on Baroque, and also should give the nearby pubs a run for their money. Good place.

As mentioned before, the pub has gone under an extensive referb, and its defenatly for the better. Its not more of a gastro pub feel with the usual dark wood and dark seating which seems to work here.
It was nice to see that there was two ales on tap, with Duchers IPA and what i believe an amber ale that is made for the bar (i could be mistaken as i had a few). Both we very will kept and the range of lagars seemed to be good.
We didnt eat when we visited but the menu looked good and the food that we saw passing looked very good indeed.
Well worth a visit and a change from the Castle which has become a bit stale (IMO).

Has recently re-opened as the Star and Anchor after an extensive refurb. Have been in a few times to check it out.
The internal decor's a bit dark but quite relaxing once you get used to it. There's plenty of seating space and the loos have been done very nicely.
There are two real ales on the bar, most recently Duechars IPA plus another less memorable one. Both were very drinkable - maybe that's why I can't remember the second one. Also a reasonable selection of wines at half decent prices.
The food is excellent, especially the steak that I had for Sunday lunch recently.
There's also a nice sheltered back garden for those long summer afternoons on the lash.
All in all, a welcome addition to West Ealing's range of pubs and competition for The Castlebar, which has had it all its own way for too long.

Looking forward to the reopening...hope its a big improvement with a better selection of beers

Closed for another refurb, yawn.

Re opened again this time seems a lot better rib eye steaks were fantastic probably the best I 'd eaten around Ealing area. Clean crisp beer. Autumn ale was nice and wine list looks good even got table service as it was quiet. just needs few more people to find this gem!
|
Went here last night, had a good pint of Deuchar's autumn beer (Mellow Yellow perhaps). Good number of beers on tap (though only two ales), and a large selection of wines. Food is relatively cheap for the area, and am looking forward to trying it. They have various deals during the week I believe.
Kevin the landlord is very friendly and seems keen to make a go of it. Will definitely return.

Open again - Nice refit and food looks good. Moretti and Sagres pick of the lagers and Deuchars and Youngs on tap. Hope they do OK - this place changes hands too often
|
Closed again.

This has now reopened as of last Thursday. Still no real ale, but very cheap drinks, especially as compared with the Castlebar next door. Looks like the new landlords are trying to make a good go of it and I hope they're successful.

Yeah, was shut last Saturday night when I walked past. Popped in probably sometime early last year (I think) on a Sunday for a quick drink and even then it felt awful and nothing was even happening. I'm not suprised it is shut. I wish Ealing had some nice stylish places to go.

Looked fairly shut last time I passed
|
This place is awful! Seriously bad vibes in here.
|
shut down now, no big loss

Baroque is a friendly bar/club/restaurant with a Kiwi Kitchen. The staff are always welcoming and polite and the owner is often to be seen working behind the bar and always with a friendly face. The music is great and varied since they got a new DJ recently, the previous one tended to just play house all night and it didn't get very crowded but now they have a DJ with more varied music the place seems to have got busier at the weekends. Cocktails are great value and mixed by staff who know what they're doing. Door staff are firm but polite and I've never seen any trouble in here... You can sit out in the beer garden in the early evening and have drinks and chat with friends in peace or sit inside and enjoy the music and atmosphere...
