A traditional pub with all that implies. Unruined interior decor and also a very nice garden. Sort of reminds me of the Wych Elm in Kingston. Courage Best was palatable. Two other ales on.

Wonderful, friendly pub on the high street. PJ keeps his pipes in excellent condition, theres a solid selection of ales and lagers. Can become a tight squeeze when the footballs on. Good pub.

Fabulous, friendly local. Great Landlords (PJ and Mary), super garden. 2012 - 150 Anniversary

Like this place, traditional feel and 2 TVs with live sport. Pride and Courage on draught and the husband and wife team seem friendly enough. Novel shelter outside with wood burner for smokers is an interesting touch.

There is cold beer and then there is freezing cold beer, need to turn the chiller down a couple of notches!!
Really like this pub. Very trad, one bar, 2 TVs, friendly bar staff, great beef and mustard crisps! PJ's very fastidious and his Pride's always in excellent nick. Locals aren't always that welcoming to outsiders, mind!
A very traditional old school pub. PJ is a lovely guy who works his socks off. Tied into Enterprize inns though and that is a massive handicap. Very 'clicky' customers
This pub seems to have its roots firmly set in the 70's. Needs a real make over to include the customers! PJ is a really nice guy though so its not all bad
THIS PUB WAS A WHITE ELEPHANT UNTIL PJ TOOK IT OVER he is a good pub operater and local sould think them selfs lucky to have a good publican
Traditional decor inside but not much else going for it. Not the worst pub in the area but far from the best either. It is clean however and the owner/manager can always be seen tidying the place which is a plus these days.

the landlady is like an unmuzzled pitbull need i say more
Nice boozer, decent prices and a smoking hot foreign barmaid! Not sure why they have teapots hanging all over the place but Ill let it slide! Is it me or does the boy behind the jump, PJ remind you of and irish Curly Watts?!

The best tasted off.To frightened to complain because of the local element. This is certainly the deep South of Hampton and I was in no mood for a lynching.Retreated from the hostile stares to the beer garden.A dirty tent and a bench on the main road clutching my stale pint.Enough said!

The star is above all else a locals pub. I felt quite out of place with people gorking at me. Im sure that after a few visits you would become accepted.
Yep...got those 'who are you' looks alright (Paul)! Wouldn't have minded if they were from staff, but there was no-one behind the bar when i called in one lunchtime. I waited for the statutory time, but no sign of any service..!! Perhaps its a 'do-it-yourself' pub..! So i went down the road to the 'Duke of Clarence' and got served there straight away..! The 'Star' had a very strong odour of stale cigarette ash (not everyones cup of tea..)! This pub will definately not be featuring in the book of "Fav Bars" by I.P.Nitely

A great pub - Exceptionally friendly staff and punters.
Since the new govenor P J & his wife Mary have been there the pub has changed dramaticly, Good food good customers and fantastic hosts
Local pub, but friendly and worth visiting
Definitely a local place but it is resonably friendly and always stays open late
Has a cliquey feel - you get those "who are you" looks as you walk in. Strange layout - one long bar with little space. Convenient for the undertakers across the road (yup, struggling for good reasons to visit this pub).
