Centrally located and old looking, so many tourists pop their heads in, some even staying. Which means its fills quickly, being fairly small. I had a pint of York Guzzler (3.40), which I enjoyed, but I moved on quickly as the body contact drinking season was beginning.

After a busy day shopping in York and with the Blue Bell on Fossgate being packed we ended up here as it was emptier and we could get a seat....we also had nearly a dozen bags so were proper laden down!
York Brewery owned and managed with 6 cask pumps offering 4 of their ales and 2 guests. The staples are Ghost Centurion Ale, Yorkshire Terrier and Guzzler with Otherside IPA @ 4.5% as a York Brewery guest plus 2 other guests which were Ossett Brewery Big Red and Barngates Brewery Old Growler. My pints of Otherside were both excellent. In addition there are 2 keg ales, a lager from York Brewery and several bottles of Belgium fruit beers.
When we arrived the pub was pretty quiet but got busier after 5.30pm, there was a live Jazz performer in the front seating area which was pleasant.
In addition to the ales there is a decent selection of whiskeys available with in excess of 25 on the shelves'.
The walls have exposed brickwork and there's stone flooring in the bar area towards the rear, the front area as you enter is wooden flooring.
A decent pub with good ales, therefore worth a visit.

Nice pub, right in the centre of York and just a minutes walk from the Shambles. York brewery owned, so they offer several of their own, which isn't a bad thing given how nice their ales are. Staff were friendly, but seating can be limited when busy due to its fairly small size. They offer a few beers from other breweries as well, which included one from the Fuzzy Duck brewery in Lancashire on our visit.
Suited us - good beer including a couple of non-York beers, staff fine, good atmosphere and mix of clientele. Seating in the back not ideal – ex-pews. Could get busy as it's fairly small.
Another good pub in York nice pint of Oyster Stout plenty of ales to choose from ,friendly bar staff in a nice chilled out pub
York Brewery pub but had selection of guest ales. York Brewery: Guzzler, Ghost Ale and Yorkshire Terrier and also Ilkley Brewery "Pure Gold". Pleased with the choice of ales, staff were friendly and knowledgeable, sadly let down by a rather grumpy manageress who didn't seem particularly happy to be asked questions!!
This was a strong contender for one of the city's most characterful pubs, and we found it thronging with a good mix of punters when visited last Saturday evening. The service was swift and efficient despite the busy atmosphere, and the York ales were on decent form, only a few minutes' walk away from their home.
This was the sort of pub where one could happily and comfortably pitch up for a good solid session, especially on the York beers as they tend to be quite easy-drinking. Alas though we had several pub fish to fry and couldn't stay for too long. The stripped brick interior is a talking point and the place appears to have been senstively-restored with a keen eye on its past. None of us can comment on the food provision as we didn't need any whilst there. As for toilet size, again I didn't have need, although from what is hinted at below perhaps that was for the best.
All in all, a pretty decent venue and one which I'd certainly seek out again if back in York.
Choice of 3 beers from York Brewery plus 3 guests all in good form. Food OK but a fairly limited choice. However the gents toilets probably rate as the smelliest in York.
A Great pub with a fantastic choice of beers, awesome varieties of delicious sausage and mash on the menu !!! The landlord and the staff are as good as it gets for a nice service and friendly chat. As I'm living in York, definitely coming back. and again after that...
In many towns in Britain this would be the best pub. The pint I tried was in very good condition. However, York has so many good pubs here the pub doesn't stand out and is just one to include on a pub crawl. Apparently this is pub is owned and run by the York Brewery which explains now why all (or most of) the beers were from that brewery. To respond to a previous post, the sausages were clearly advertised in a leaflet left on the table, though I didn't try them.
One of my favourite pubs in York.
Decent friendly bar staff and good ale
Old Rosie real cider, 10% off for CAMRA members, has a bookcase & boardgames. Didn't see any sausages. Good pub.
Apologies - they do more than sausages, they do sandwiches, platters etc.
This is an excellent pub. A great all rounder. You can be on your own with wifi and a pint of perfectly kept beer during the day or you can even bring your missus here in the evening (tongue in cheek smiley). Food is limited to sausages but that is a good thing - large menus in a pub are suspicious, how fresh can it all be? A great place to while away the time while others shop and wait in museum queues. 10/10

Its always a pleasure visiting the drop when in York. Having worked my way through all the York brewery beers on offer I have to say that it is still one of my favourite pubs in York town center.
Had an excellant pint of York Brewery Centurion's Ghost Ale on my visit last Saturday. Wish I had more time to sample some of the other ales on offer.
I sat on a stool with a large barrel as a table in the front window and watched the world go by (and all the shoppers an tourists get drenched in the rain!)
Would highly recommend this pub - excellant beer, service and vaule for money. As it's a York Brewery pub it was cheaper than the other pubs I visited!
Visited twice on my recent journey to York. Good range of ales mainly from the York Brewery (the owners). Nicely served beer on both visits especially the Ghost Ale. Slightly disapointed though, the chap in front of me ordered a York Brewery taster, four 1/3 pint glasses of any choice of beer in a stand, thinking this would be an ideal chance to sample all of the pubs fare in two rounds I asked for the same, only to be informed that the pub only had the four 1/3 pint glasses that the previous customer had been given!! An oppurtunity lost me thinks! Bar staff was a bit unsure of himself. Quite beer drinkers pub. Would visit again.
As always I thouroughly enjoyed my visit to the Last Drop inn on Saturday. Fine ale and friendly bar staff.
My favourite of the York brewery pubs
Second choice after finding the Blue Bell shut.
Quietish early Sunday evening, very good selection of York (and other) beers on, cheerful barmaid, good little hour spent here.
Typical York brewery pub :o( No atmosphere, over priced and understaffed Lots of better places within 5 minutes walk Do yourself a favour and give this place a miss
York Brewery place with a modern, Continental feel, like most of their pubs. A front room and a raised back area with the bar in a pretty open-plan environment, although various beer-related things on the walls are of interest. Furnishings are traditional, also the beer barrels for groups to stand around A good real ale range as ever, with 4 York beers and guests. Busy on my visit and beer n good condition. It's an OK place, but is somehow lacking in atmosphere as noted. Still worth a visit though for the fine beer.
Can't put my finger on it but I wasn't keen on this place. Maybe its just because it doesn't feel like a pub. Also the bar staff were quite miserable. The whole place seemed to lack atmosphere & was a bit scruffy. Apart from the fact it has Guzzler nothing to recommend.
The name last drop refers to the public hangings which took place in the good old days. Nothing could be better than watching some villain swinging, flapping and twitching whilst enjoying a nice cool pint of york guzzler. I digress. There were 4 york beers available and also Wadsworths 6X as a guest. Tried a pint of Yorkshire Terrier which was spot on. The pub itself is nothing special, looks like a converted shop, with large windows overlooking kings square. Tables made from barrels. Small courtyard. Stone and wood bar. A pistol on the wall. There were two camra dudes at the bar, ranting on about hoppy overtones and caramel finishes (this was only slightly anoying). On the whole a relaxing place to enjoy a pint. The beer is the star 7.

I always seek out this pub in York, although it's a bit open and shop front, there is still a decent atmosphere in there. The beers are good with the normal York Brewery fare and a few interesting guests. The food at lunchtime hits the spot, I do like their toasted panini's as a bit of a filling snack. All in all, pretty good.
Good little pub with a good choice of local Real Ales. Just stopped for one pint so I chose the Guzzler which was only OK. The pub lacked atmosphere, the staff said it had been a quiet evening. Very clean toilets.
A great real pub, fabulous real ales, different lagers and some good home cooked food. Plus some really excellent knowledgeable and friendly staff. As pre the last review it can be cold but drink more to warm up that is the answer surely.
A cold January evening visit. Bar staff very helpful, A good selection of York brewery ales on offer. I would like to have rated it higher and stayed longer but it was so cold in there that everyone had their coats and hats on. Maybe a pound in the meter for the heating would be a good idea.
Late review from November and this is one of the pubs we always visit. Only had one as the beer was so cold it would do Wetherspoons proud. Shame really. Still a nice pub to visit though.
New pub that looks like its been her for centuries. Good service, good atmosphere and extremely central. As I arrived, there was an escapologist wowing the crowds in the nearby square! Beers were from the York brewery, plus Burton Bridge Damson Porter & Titanic Stout. 3 ciders for me - Stowford Press, Aspalls and Old Rosie. Excellent!
Fabulous little oasis, great beer and ambience another must visit pub!
One of Yorks newer pubs and a welcome addition. Owned by the York brewery, their range of beers is growing in both range and quality. A pleasant experience all round.
I've been here a couple of times, both on pub quiz nights. The beers are great, and local, and the bar staff are friendly, and the pub quiz is a decent challenge. I'm not so keen on the little stools but you have to be there early to get a proper seat.
Enjoyed an Oldershaw ale in this fine York brewery pub. It is good to see such an excellent choice of beers. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere too.
Back again recently. Real ale selections still very, very good-Stonewall great, again. Barstaff very professional. Not too crowded and best of all no chavs.
York Brewery's first pub. Their Stonewall (cask) was in perfect nick. Decent pub.
Has an almost cafe-bar type feel. Relaxed and chatty atmosphere, excellent range of York ales. Great place for a break mid-shopping or on an evening tour around the better alehouses of York.
Nice little place, owned by York Brewery hence with their very good beer. Stops serving food at 4pm, a little curious, but there probably isn't enough space for later custom...
A quiet and relaxing boozer serving a good selection of real ales.No frills and none the worse for that, well worth a visit.
Great little pub this one. A fine selection of ales, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. One of York's little gems.
We managed to do 13 boozers during a two days pub crawl in York. The Last Drop Inn was visited early on a Monday. Very quite at that time of the day. An attentive barman made us feel welcome, and we drank half pints of four different ales from York Brewery. The Last Drop Bitter was a decent stout with taste of burnt malt and coffee. The Guzzler should also be mentioned because of the ale's hoppy bitterness. Great ales at a comfortable pub with central location. A perfect start on our pubwalk in York.
I know I can dress a little iffy at times but felt overdressed when in this little corner of York. Not worth a visit for the warm over priced beer but wort it just to see all the wierdos who sip their half pints.
A quiet and relaxing Sunday afternoon sort of pub. Light and airy. Very pleasant. The York Brewery beers are always very good.
A very nice pub with a variety of York Brewery choices (e.g., Centurians Ghost, Stonewall, Yorkshire Terrier, etc). as well as a few guest ales. The staff was very helpful and friendly and better yet, the pub does not allow large party groups in the evening b/c it simply cannot provide the space- a definite plus. Outside seating is available and the crowd there was always very pleasant and talkative. Lastly, it's in the center of York so you can have a pint (or 5) then easily head down the road to your next location! I believe that they will be having a Beer Festival in August as well. Too bad I'll miss that.
A nice little place, relatively new, without being characterless inside. They do stock their own beers (Yor Brewery) but also have a guest ale or two, and choice of bottled beers. Very well located in town, and can be short on seating on afternoons / evenings, although I agree with what Simon said, on lunch times it is usually quiet. A very nice place to call in for a relaxed, quiet, beer.
didn`t enjoy the beer here, its well situated & I`m very enthusiastic normally re smaller brew pubs, but this appeared to be more of a stop for a quick sit down pub for the local shoppers.
Love this pub - visit everytime I am in the town. Very chilled out, quiet but with atmosphere. Food is lovely, and very good value - esp. the sunday lunch!

have called in here on my last three annual visits to york who is the old guy who sits at the bar holding court? i think he may be a retired publican but he has held me enthralled with his opinions on everything under the sun while "she" visits the shambles

Pleasant quiet pub in the centre of town. Small. Live music sometimes, but no other music. Limited choice of beers (compared to other York pubs which are known for their wide ranges, anyhow). Nice to sit down for a quiet chat over a beer, since you can usually hear yourself talking.

Back to basics boozer (no fruit machines, music, pool tables etc.) owned by York Brewery. Given that it's slap bang in the middle of the city centre it doesn't get nearly as crowded as you expect - I've seen it pretty much dead on some lunchtimes.
Sadly, the range of beers is pretty much limited to York Brewery's output, which is nice if you like it, but not so good if you don't (I don't). Supposedly does decent food, but I've never tried it.
