Not much has changed since my last visit - the Hobsons has now been replaced with Wye Valley Butty Bach (which was average/good and cost £4.50) and they no longer sell Doom Bar. Enjoyed my Sunday roast (£24 for 2 courses).

Bigger and better than the other pub in the village (although there's not a lot in it). My initial disappointment at seeing Doom Bar at one end of the bar was assuaged by seeing Wye Valley HPA and Hobsons Best at the other. At £3 for the Hobsons (did they charge us correctly?), it was a good value pint but perhaps not quite as clear as ones I've had down the road.

Now the miserable so and so who once ran the Corners has gone , the new owners have turned the Corners into one of the best pub / restaurants for miles around. Good beer and fantastic steaks well worth a visit.

A pleasant pub with excellent accomodation and a warm welcome. Real ale (Hobsons) was not quite as bright as I would have liked, but I had three pints so it can't have been that bad! Bar food was good. Shouty old blokes still there but not annoying and a good way to catch up on local gossip. Nice surprise in the morning: the landlady had noticed that we had only been given one bath towel and knocked 10 off the bill.

Popped in for a drink a few times here and always enjoyed it. I like the bar and how it is decorated. Never packed or busy. Noticed the restaurant had been going down in numbers for a while, but my last visit was a few months back. I'd love it for a local.

The owner takes a basil faulty approach to customer service which 90% of customers find very rude, however, the inn stays afloat through good letting rooms, though many guests chose to drink and eat at the Angel down the road. Popular with larger parties, weddings etc. And the cheap steak night still popular. Sadly , we have stopped using the pub after too many instances of rudeness and wrong bills- check your change!

Recently stayed here having read the comments beforehand. Don't know what to make of the that of Chris P Bacon on 02/01/2009 - can only think he/she went to the wrong pub. I always find it instructive on BITE to look at users comments on other pubs, get an idea of what they like etc. I note that CP Bacon has none - nor do any of the other posters. Perhaps CP Bacon is a commercial rival? Certainly reads like a friend of the other pub in the vilage! Anyhow, do not be put off by an isolated negative review, this is an excellent pub/restaurant. It is along the lines of many village pubs in these days in that food is as important as drink in keeping the pub afloat. That said, the beer is excellent, all the usual keg suspects and two draught ales (Bass and Hobson's bitter when I was there)which were superby kept and presented. The food was first rate as was the accommodation ( about 10 rooms I think) which was also reasonably priced. I have posted many reviews, read them if you have nothing better to do, but haven't posted for a while - lost my password to tell the truth - but I had to post this if only to counterbalance the tosh that was posted in January 2009. I know that we are not supposed to take reviews too seriously but that was a hatchet job which is not at all deserved. For what it is, a pub/restaurant in a rural village offering decent standard accommodation the Corners deserves 8/10.

Went here recently for my Wedding Anniversary. The food was delicious and the welcome was fantastic.
A really enjoyable night - highly reccommended and will be visiting again.

This pub has built up a great reputation over the years and has many improvements, it is a great place to stay. The food is superb and the service is excellent... Having recently had my wedding reception here I can testify that they have a real understanding in all that you need and can accomodate various functions as well as the simplest of evenings... well worth a visit.

Great place, great beer and fabulous food. The hosts create a welcome atmosphere and I would definitely return here. Roaring fireplaces and a traditional friendly atmosphere. The prices are reasonable too. They also have a few rooms which are really nice.

Stayed here for the weekend - had a fabulous time. The rooms have everything you need and are warm & comfortable. The bar was welcoming with open fires, good beer & great atmosphere. Had dinner both nights in the restaurant which is beautiful, the steak was the best I've ever had and the homemade puds were delicious. The service was friendly & efficient and we were made to feel very welcome - nice to find a traditional pub and we are already planning a return visit.

Booked ths place for a meal for 8 people. When I rung up I was surprised to be immediately told 'Yes we have a table for you'. I had booked it for a Saturday night 1 week in advance and the woman didn't even need to check. That should have sent the alarm bells ringing. All the decent places have to at least check their books, especially for a group of 8, and particularly leading up to Christmas!!
I've had a beer in this pub a few times before and found it to be pretty poor. Landlord....try some line cleaner!!!! The restaurant looks nice, although I have never eaten there.
What a mistake it was booking this place. Had a pre dinner drink in the bar. The beer is still woeful. Hardly anyone there apart from 3 old men who were shouting in a semi drunken manner (they must have got drunk at home, the beer here stinks)
Through to the restaurant. Nicely laid out tables.....but all of them empty. Yes thats right. A Saturday night. We were the only party there. I could see members of my group looking nervously at each other.
The food prices were extortionate. It's not always the case, but with high prices sometimes the food is superb.
But not in this place.
The food was barely edible. My 'Sirloin' Steak resembled a lump of stewing steak from a 99p can of dog food from Morrisons. The portion was tiny. The vegetables were barely edible. We ordered 6 portions of chips, only 5 turned up, the remainder arrived just as we were about to leave. The old waitress (with a voice like Marge Simpson) was rude, abrupt and stinking of cigarettes.
My partner had Duck. It was raw and was served with a cold plum sauce that looked like the 'Chef' had emptied a jar of cold jam over it before shoving it in the microwave. Another member of our party had Chicken. He left it untouched.
The final bill topped 100. I was embarrassed for everyone in the group.
As we drove away we noticed the Angel pub just down the road was packed out. Clearly word had got around about the place to eat in Kingsland.
Never again will I set foot in the Corners inn, for a meal or otherwise. I strongly suggest you do the same.
if it was possible to award -10 for this hell hole it still wouldnt be enough.
