Had a perfect roast in here today,as previously mentioned the place is technically a restaurant but cannot fault it in anyway Everyone else seemed happy and saw no one complaining A must if your in Lulworth trust me

Slightly corporate feel, and clientele all appeared very 'down from London for the weekend in the Range rover', but having said that you can't ignore the location. Two Badger ales, including Tangle foot. We sat in the garden (which was packed) in late December (Global warming) and enjoyed the view.. Didn't eat, but food looked great. I can imagine how packed this place must be in summer. I'm not complaining about this pub, you just think there should be a second pub here with dark, small rooms, old wood, ships in bottles and the sound of sea shanties ringing out...

This is more like a hotel bar / restaurant type place, than a pub.
Having said that, it does have a large outdoor seating area which is a lovely sun trap.
I found the drink prices very decent, considering this is the only pub near the actual Cove. They really have a monopoly and could charge a lot more.
That's my problem with Lulworth Cove in general ... there's nothing there. No pubs, no newsagent, nothing.
The Castle Inn half a mile up the road is a much more traditional pub. However, watch out for the Castle's vastly overpriced standard pub grub.

Visited here with friends after a walk with the dogs. It looks like it has been recently renovated especially the toilets which were immaculate!
I didn't have any alcohol as we were driving but there were 3 Badger Brewery ales on tap. We all ate there too and the food was excellent, good selection nicely cooked. All the staff were friendly and we were glad we found this place before driving home.
This was a very nice pub experience, I'd recommend stopping by.

Fine for a pint of orange juice and soda after a tiring walk to Durdle Door and back and the ales from Hall and Woodhouse are well above average among those peddled by the national chains. Detailed shipping maps of the glorious local coastline on the wall recall the Dolphin in Plymouth.

Better than I was expecting. Guest Badger very good. Some of the food on the dear side and a bit average but the burgers seemed home made and were good value. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Really not bad at all given the location and what I was expecting.

Staying at Lulworth for a few days my wife and I visited the Lulworth Cove inn for an evening meal.
When we walked in, the first thought was " this looks like a chips with everything place". The decor was not much to shout about - the place could do with a lick of paint. In fact it looked like the whole pub could do with sprucing up. Seats and tables were nothing special. If there had been been anywhere else to go we might have left.
HOWEVER - I bought some Firkin Fox beer and thought it was pretty good. We ordered a meal each and what turned up was very good - good quality, hot and plenty of it. The bar staff were friendly, especially the fellow from Down Under. The food was just a little expensive ( 1 over the odds), but as there was lots of it that didn't worry me too much.
I note some of the adverse comments below and can see where they might have come from. I can only judge as I find though and whilst the pub itself could look better, what it served up was fine.

Takes advantage of it's position as the only pub in Lulworth Cove. A real tourist trap and a disgrace. No effort whatsoever to provide a quality service. The place is filthy especially the gent's toilets where the floor was covered in water(or piss?), toilet paper and a broken toilet seat. The only good thing I can say is that my murky, bland pint of Badger wasn't as expensive as I feared. If anyone from Hall & Woodhouse is reading this, you CAN and SHOULD do better. If you really don't know how to run a pub, have a look at the infinately superior Castle Inn up the road.

Real touristy pub - as Moozer says, they know you won't be coming back soon so they don't bother trying very hard to please. Not good. Go to the Castle Inn up the road instead - infinitely better in every way.

The sort of place that caters for tourists, knows its the only pub in the vicinity and and assumes that you probably won't be coming back soon anyway. Food is mediocre - a bit of a lottery as to whether it arrives and is cooked properly. I found the service to be acceptable bordering on resentful.

Hall & Woodhouse pub; I thought this a bit of a tourist trap located right by the main tourist car park at Lulworth Cove. Lots of children running round inside, which is rarely a good sign.

When I visited (last week in October 08) the bar seemed a bit like a displaced London pub. You judge whether that is good.
The real ale choice is fair and from what I sampled, well kept. If you like wazzy drinks like lager then there is less choice.
The food is good and my wife said her steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare), my meal was fine as well.
Although they offer rooms, this is more a pub with rooms than a hotel with a bar if you see what I mean. However, if you are staying overnight the rooms are clean with good quality linen and the breakfast is great (superb sausages). I'll happily visit and stay again

A recently refurbished pub right at the main car park for Lulworth Cove and the path to DurdleDoor. Reasonable choice of real ales, large outdoor seating area. Didn't try the food but the menu looked varied and reasonably priced and the food that came out for other customers whilst I drank my pint(s) looked good. Visited here about 20 years ago when walking the South West Way and it was the pits, so great improvement.
