A great place to watch the football, especially when chelsea lose.

I will never go into this pub every again,i live in the area and since its about the only pub left in Greenford ive been going in on and off for a few years.but yesterday i finally become sick of being treated like shit by the bar staff.they are rude, miserable and ignore you half the time.they serve u when they feel like it,it as thou u r a nuisence.boycott this pub at all costs!!!

New governor definately an improvement on previous ones. I have been in there for my lunch and there are a few hangers on from the Red Lion old days but on the whole the atmosphere is better. Went in for Karaoke on Saturday and it was lively enough although they are not going to be doing it anymore apparently, they are sticking to live bands. Catch 'Power of Soul' when they are down there if you get a chance. Excellent

Visited a couple of Tuesdays ago and it wasn't as awful as it used to be. At least someone's painted the ceiling from tobacco yellow to non-tobacco yellow. Pint of pride was just average. Service was garbage - the one girly was too busy chatting to her mates to try and earn her boss a few bob. Would only visit if you had to.

this was not a bad pub about five years ago. In my recent visits the pub has gone down hill big time .bad managerment and for the staff they having got a clue in what they are doing
|
A great shame about this pub. Has the potential to be good but has never had a strong enough manager. Is renowned as a bit of a 'trouble' pub. On my visits there, beer has been ok, although I would reiterate with other reviewers opinions about the staff being of poor quality.

Recently started using this pub for a few beers on weekend afternoons.
It's nothing special but it's a friendly enough and comfortable enough place, and the staff are polite and friendly, if a little disorganised at times.
A bit too "family oriented" for my liking - too many kids running about sometimes - but generally a decent if unremarkable town centre boozer.

Very mixed feelings. Generally cheap and the food is ok, but two things really infuriate me about this place.Firstly, the manageress is totally inept and the place is constantly running out of beer and wine glasses, even when it is not busy. She clearly doesn't care and its a shame cos this place could be alright.Secondly, I cannot abide the shameless favouritism shown by one of the bar staff to her mates, who she constantly serves before others who have been waiting for ages. There is a real complacency here that is gonna prove to be this place's downfall.

Will be interesting to see how this pub gets on when Wetherspoons open up across the road at the old Lloyds bank.

Does anyone know exactly how old the tall stooped old man is? The one who will not let anyone help him.
|
Popped into this place by accident really on a friday night, what a collection of drunken losers frequent this dismal smelly hole
i agree with the previous comment about drunken girls and fights, thats exactly what i saw in there, i feared for my personal safety, added to that, fat old men chasing drunk young girls isnt what i want to witness on a friday night
|
I have to say that i've had my doubts about this place for years, but due to the impromptu demise of the litten i thought i'd give it a go. Pleasantly surprised; nice staff, okay food-locals still seem a little rank though
|
Has been re-furbed, yet is worse than ever before. You will wait 20mins to get served flat beer and probably witness at least one fight or drunk girl fall over in the process. Try the Bridge hotel down the road for a better pint and a better atmosphere

Verry slow bar staff, full of fat old men, the toilet doors do not lock and the toilet seet is broken badley, no hook on the toilet door no soap to wash your hands with. too many kids running around the place as if its a playground. too many rif-raf. However it's the best pub in greenford, shows how poor the pubs in greenford are

Pub has been refurbished and now has facilities for three real ales and when I visited had Spitfire which was really good and London Pride. Was very nicely refurbished and had very friendly staff. Also has a comprehensive and very nice-sounding menu, though haven't as yet tried the food. Well worth a visit.

The Red Lion has closed down for Refurb and will re-open as a PUB but will be serving food also. Watch out for bigger and better things

closed down to becoms a resteraunt as it wasnt making enough money as a pub cos it was shit
|
Been twice and both times two groups of 40 something men have fought using anything within arms reach, glasses, chairs, pool cues etc. Nice I can't wait for my 3rd visit. NOT!! At closing we were offered drinks in plastic cups so that we could sit outside on the benches and carry on drinking, would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic!

I went into this pub with trepidation (if thats the right word) after all the bad gossip I had heard and was pleasantly suprised. Had a very relaxed and enjoyable time and its dirt cheap too.
|
Go occasionally to watch the football, and never seen any sign of trouble so far - even when they showed A Chelsea match in one half and Man U the other!
Its also pretty big so you can usually get a seat.

Now I know I commented on this ages ago, but it's disappeared. It was a salient point too as I saw a brutal fight in the Lion that lasted for ages and involved heavy wooden chairs being swung and broken over other people's backs. Then the law turned up and people scarpered. Fine if you want to experience midless thuggery, although the weirdest thing was that prior to the punch up, my mate and I were greeted by the most charming and friendly barman I'd ever met. Sounds like it's cleared up its act now. About time too.
|
Glad to hear about it getting better. Lived nearby in early 90s anbd it was a dump full of morons. Well done if the new guy has done a job on that. Greenford has never really come up at all (drove thru it the other day) sadly.

It was the "family environment" that made me stop using it. On Sunday lunchtimes they let screaming kids run about the place like it was a playground. Sadly, my hope that one of them would trip over and crack his or her head open never came to pass when I was there.

I went in with a few mates from Leeds and it was a very friendly pub with a great atmosphere, just like the pubs back home.

The 'Red' is a good pub. It was violent in its day but the new landlord has cleared it up ALOT. The food it not too bad, the bar staff are more than friendly and the locals make it a good place to visit. It is a bit of a "family" environment. You MUST visit for a beer!
